Window AC Installation - Need help!

I have an older home that does have central air but I have just one room that really struggles to keep cool in the summer. I'm looking at getting a window unit as a short-term solution. However, I am unable to figure out how I am to install a window AC unit with how the window is designed.

Last year I tried to install one of the Midea U shaped models but the support bracket didn't work due to the angle of the exterior decorative brickwork being at a 45-degree angle.

Here are the images of what I've got to work with.

How would I be able to put an AC unit in here? I don't think I can just lay it on the vinyl. There is exactly a 2 inch distance from the sill to the vinyl lip. Do I need to put some wood (2"x4"?) on the still so that the unit can rest on that? This seems like it should be simple but I'm really struggling.

Another CX5 Torque Converter/Transmission Failure

Just left the dealership and they confirmed the 3rd to 4th upshift issue of the TC in relation to the published TSB. They quoted me 6,600 just to replace that part and the 3 ATF flushes. Thought that price was absurdly high and asked for a quote on a full transmission replacement; came back with 6,800. Absolutely absurd to charge $6600 on something that may not even fix the problem when you can get a full replacement for a couple hundred more with absolute certainty of the problem being resolved.

Will be calling Mazda to see if there's anything they can do to assist even though I'm outside of the warranty. Unlikely they will, but worth asking at least. I'll take it to a transmission shop for replacement before I pay full price at a dealership.

Disappointing to say the least that I need a new transmission after 68k miles. Especially when it's from a known issue.
