How do I develop as fast as possible towards licensure?

Been surveying for 1.5 years as an I-man (junior party chief some of the time) and don’t want to waste any time getting licensed in the future. I have an unrelated degree and am taking a cert on surveying at a community college. I have part 107 and know how to use base/rover gear. Hopefully I will be promoted to crew chief this year.

After this cert, what do you think would be a next move to help me no waste time? Is there something I should be studying early or a particular area I need to focus on like boundary or state law? I like this career and I’m trying to make the most of it. Thanks

I’m thinking about enrolling in a year long surveying program at my local community college. On top of it being a good way to grow my knowledge, I was wondering if it would technically reduce some of the required time to sit for the FS exam. The course is 21 credits. I have 2 years of survey experience (I-Man) and an unrelated bachelors degree.

I believe at my current rate I will need at least 2 years in a leadership role to be eligible for FS. Do you think a cert like this would help reduce that required time in the eyes of the board? Would going for an associates be better? I know I will need to chief for some years before I’m ready to test but I want to be able to pull the trigger when I’m able. State is Virginia. Thanks.
