I found a great deal on this early 1970s Cal 485 Omega De Ville. It was listed as "needs service", so I thought I would take the project on. I didn't look closely at the dimensions, so I had no idea how tiny it was going to be.

I finally cracked open my first truly vintage watch yesterday. It's a Porta "Camping" watch with a PUW 60 movement. So far, the disassembly and cleaning have all gone according to plan. The only thing I noticed was a broken center wheel, so that's on order.

I’ve been attempting to restore vintage Seikos for a few months now. I’m on my fourth restoration.
BUT not a single one of these vintage Seiko 5s I’ve purchased have been genuine. Who's out there selling fake Seikos listed as “needs service”?! I get it - I’m the chump that keeps falling for it.
What do you all do when this happens to you? Should I be giving the eBay seller negative feedback? I’ve messaged a few of them and they claim they didn’t know it was a fake.
