possible exposure?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge about this subject, just needed some more opinions from vets
I recently started volunteering at a wildlife rehab in which some younger raccoons (less than 12 weeks) are kept. Today, I was working to clean out their cages when the owner of the rehabilitation center was grabbing one out of one of the other cages to bottle feed. As she opened the cage door, one escaped through the crack in the door and started to approach me on the other side of the room. The raccoon started to climb my leg and left scratches (not entirely sure if it drew blood, if so it was very minimal). I was able to cover the marks and the owner was able to take them off my leg.
The raccoon had been there for a couple of weeks with other raccoons who were also there a similar amount of time. The raccoon showed no signs of rabies, similar to other raccoons who were there. I also got reassurance from the owner that she believed that the babies did not have rabies because they showed no signs of rabies and the amount of time they have been here.
Is there a chance the raccoon could have rabies? I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and health OCD and freak out about any health related stuff. I have been spiraling all day and would like to get some opinions.
