Drop out of well known macc to downgrade and have more focus on cpa?
I recently started a well-known MAcc program, but I’m realizing it’ll be very difficult to complete the CPA while here and I may have to extend my graduation.
My alternative is to go back home, complete an easier online MAcc at my undergrad school, and primarily focus on passing all 4 CPA exams before starting full-time.
I would go home right now and study all of fall completing far. And when the online MAcc starts I can delegate slightly more time to the cpa than the MAcc.
For context, my undergrad school isn’t a top accounting recruiting school, but I was still able to land Big 4 audit, Top 10 firm tax, and corporate accounting internships through it.
Would giving up the stronger MAcc name hurt my long-term opportunities, especially if I want to move into deal advisory/FDD? Or would having my CPA completed + my existing experience matter more at this point?
