Help me with options?

Hi guys,

I have a 2018 Holden Astra 1.4L hatch, auto, 85,000km with a damaged piston skirt and cylinder 1 comp test showed 120 with cylinder 2-4 at 215, so pretty much need a new engine.

Got quoted $3k for a used engine, $1.5-2k labour so total $5k - car is probably worth around $12-13k.

Some advice/any options you think might be better?

Option 1 - get engine replaced and then continue to drive as per normal?

Option 2 - my dad has a 2017 1.4L Astra hatch, 55k on the clock, manual and currently driving this - I could buy this off him?

Option 3 - the most priciest option but buy a second hand Toyota Corolla, Mazda?

The mechanic said that these engines due to Australia’s conditions must have 98 premium fuel. Would this really make much of a difference moving forward?

Thanks in advance.
