Biology 🧬

I’m currently taking an 8-week Biology course 🧬 and I’m really hoping to get an A! Since I eventually want to go to PA school, I want to take this class seriously and build a strong foundation.

For anyone who has taken Biology in an accelerated course, what helped you study and actually retain the information? Are there any YouTube channels, videos, websites, study methods, or resources you would recommend? 📚🧬

I’d love any advice! My goal is to stay ahead and finish this class with an A. 🩷

Which dr should I go with ?!

I’m trying to decide between Dr. Andrew Michael and Dr. Jose Marchena for wisdom tooth removal in the Houston area, and I’d love to hear from anyone who has personal experience with either surgeon.

My case is a little more complicated:

My lower wisdom teeth are very close to the nerve.
I have eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), GERD, and inappropriate sinus tachycardia.
I’ll be under propofol sedation regardless of which surgeon I choose.

If you’ve had surgery with either doctor, I’d love to know:
How was your experience?
Did you have any nerve issues or numbness afterward?
How was the anesthesia and recovery?
Did the surgeon take time to explain the risks and answer your questions?

I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who had wisdom teeth that were close to the nerve or had medical conditions that made surgery a little more complicated.

Thanks in advance!

NP or PA

I’m stuck going back and forth between NP and PA school. I really want to become a PA, but I keep questioning if NP would be the better choice.
Right now I’m working as a medical assistant, and I can’t keep making MA pay.

I know the reality is that if I go to PA school, I’ll probably be broke for a while, but I also know it’s an investment in my future.

I’m 24 and still have at least eight more classes to finish my Associate of Science. I had to drop classes before because I was hospitalized, so I feel like I’m behind. I’m also not sure if I’d enjoy bedside care long-term. One thing I really love about being a PA is the flexibility to change specialties throughout your career.

What also scares me is how competitive PA school is. I worry about how long it will take me to finish my prerequisites, get accepted, and honestly, if I’ll even get accepted at all.

Also I do wanna go to pa school for sure at the same time I need to make money rn and have insurance due to my chronic illness once I get off my parents insurance my medication is $4000 a month (Dupixent for eoe )

Has anyone else been in this position? How did you decide between NP and PA, and do you have any advice or words of encouragement?

Pre pa school

OK, I need some advice. I really want to go to PA school. I’m 24 and just turned 24 this year. I’ll finally be finishing my associate’s degree next semester. I started college later because I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I graduated during the COVID year, I had to start working instead of going straight to school. Looking back, I’m actually glad because I probably wouldn’t have chosen healthcare otherwise.
Right now, I really want to move out of my parents’ house, but I also have at least two more years to earn my bachelor’s degree before I can apply to PA school. I’m currently working as a medical assistant in cardiology, I need more financial income and I’m trying to figure out the best path forward. I’ve been thinking about going into nursing so I could have a stable career while finishing my bachelor’s degree and completing the remaining prerequisites for PA school. Does that sound like a good idea, or would you recommend a different path?

Struggling in trigonometry

OK, I’m not gonna lie. It’s been a while since I’ve taken algebra and I’m taking trigonometry right now in the summer. Do you guys have any advice whatsoever to pass and be successful in it? I’m pretty sure I failed my last quiz I thought it was supposed to be about unit circle so I was si focused on that but It didn’t even have one question about that SMH

Do any of you have any advice?
