Casio baby G BG 242 modul 1800 original manual - owner name display function

Looking for original Casio Baby-G BG-342 (Module 1800) manual – possible owner name display function

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to solve a mystery about my original Casio Baby-G BG-342, purchased around 1997–1999.

Watch details:

  • Model: BG-342
  • Module: 1800
  • Made in Korea
  • Original Baby-G G-ZONE fabric strap
  • Original protective metal guard

The watch still works perfectly.

The mystery

When the watch was new, I programmed my own first name ("LOTTE") into the watch using the original manual.

After programming it, the small circular display would automatically scroll:

L → O → T → T → E

in exactly the same area where the watch now displays:

  • the rotating G
  • animated weekday letters (SAT, FRI, etc.)
  • the small skateboard/surfer animation.

The name appeared automatically during the normal animation cycle. No button presses were needed.

Years later, after the battery completely died and was replaced, the programmed name disappeared permanently.

Observations

The circular display currently alternates between:

  • rotating G animation
  • animated weekday letters
  • skateboard/surfer animation

The G animation itself is not continuous—it follows a timed animation cycle.

This makes me believe the owner name replaced the standard G animation before the battery memory was lost.

What I'm looking for

  • Original Module 1800 manual
  • Anyone who owned a BG-342
  • Anyone who remembers an owner name / message function
  • Catalogs or service information mentioning this feature

I've searched online but haven't found any documentation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
