This sofa has been in our house for more than 35 years and somehow it’s still solid. The cushions and fabric definitely show their age, but the wooden frame refuses to give up.

Makes me wonder if older furniture was just built better than most modern stuff. Thinking about restoring or reupholstering it instead of replacing it.

Anyone else still using furniture older than them?

I have this old workout machine at home (photo attached). It’s been sitting for a while and now it’s not working properly. The movement feels stuck/uneven and some parts look loose. Not sure if it’s worth repairing or if these machines usually die after some years.

I’m not very technical, so before calling someone or throwing it away, wanted to ask here:

Can this type of machine usually be repaired?

What parts commonly fail in these?

Is it expensive to fix compared to buying a new one?

Anything I can check myself first?

Would appreciate honest suggestions from people who’ve repaired similar machines before.
