House Cleaners?

Any local recommendations for weekly house cleaners. Looking for someone thorough, reliable, and communicative. Prefer an individual over a company so I️ know it’s the same person every week. Any suggestions??

Babies Ground Feeding

This is the second summer in a row that our resident barred owls have visited our neighbors on a nightly basis. Around 9pm every night they show up with their juveniles (this year two) and they swoop down to the grass and hop around grabbing things to eat. Sometimes they’ll spend an extended amount of time on the ground listening and hopping around. Sometimes they’ll wait in the trees and yell until their parent brings food up. We think they’re eating June bugs? It’s a treat to watch though!

Saddles not being fertilized?

I’ve noticed twice now that I have two shrimp who appear to had noticeable saddles forming, but then a few weeks later, they don’t seem to have the saddle anymore and aren’t carrying eggs. Is this just a case of the eggs not getting fertilized? Or is it something else? My water parameters are stable, shrimp population is stable, lots of babies in the tank. Any ideas?

Orange colored snowball?

I️ ordered snowball shrimp online and they came happy and healthy but one is quite distinctly orangish - kind of a pleasant peach color and one or two others have slight orange tinges to them? I’ve had them a few months now and she seems healthy and is developing a saddle but just curious why shes peach colored instead of totally clear/white like her friends?

My drink dispenser tank

Feeling super pleased with my drink-dispenser-turned-walstad tank. Right now it’s home to a nerite and some baby pink leopard ramshorn snails. Awaiting delivery of some carbon rili neo shrimp to make it complete.

Where do you get your plants?

I’m getting my first little pond set up but all the pond plants at the local nurseries start at $20 a pop! Are you all just incredibly wealthy or is there a more affordable place to source plants for mini ponds?

Clado, saddle, huh?

Question one: this snowball has clado, yes? How long does a clado shrimp need to be quarantined? He’s been salt dipped twice and molted once.
Question two: I️ always thought this thin little orange dude was a male but now it looks like they have a saddle so now I’m thinking maybe I’ve been wrong?
Thx

What kind of shrimp is this?

It’s been hard to get a good picture (how you people get such cool clear pictures?!?) but I️ have this lovely gal who is dark blue on her front half and then almost clear like a snowball down her tail. I️ think she’s just the coolest - is this a specific type or just a rando? She game in a skittles pack.

I️ have these two tanks that literally sit right next to each other and one is doing great and the other seems to be a shrimp killer…
One is a 3 gallon hydroponic with sponge filter and heater. The pump for the filter deposits the water in the upper white chamber where the pothos roots are, and then circulates back down in kind of a rain-like drip. This tank has been running for multiple years and has housed a variety of small fish and currently has a nerite snail who has been a longtime resident. Live plants are growing just fine. Shrimp though… they last a few weeks and then start to kick it. I’ve tried multiple times, first with just a two adult shrimp, then tried a slightly larger group, and one even arrived berried and had babies but they all started dying again. I️ transferred the remaining shrimp to the bowl next door and everybody is surviving and thriving.

There’s no visible signs of pests - Planaria or nymphs or anything like that.

Edit to add: water parameters consistently test within normal/ideal ranges

So how do I️ fix the small one? Should I️ just dump it and start over? Maybe try different substrate rather than crappy blue gravel? Or do I️ just bail and call it a total loss? Any suggestion welcome!

Baby snowballs are so fun because they’re basically invisible until you get the perfect angle
