Looking for a simple tournament format for 8 friends playing 6 games

Is it as simple as tallying our placements and lowest score wins or is there a better way?

My first thought is 1st gets 1 pt and 8th gets 8 and so on and lowest score at the end wins but not sure if there are issues with that. Any incite is helpful. I play with the group tomorrow.

We are also looking for 2 people to play with us if anyone is free tomorrow from 8pm PST - midnight PST

We are not very good. We range from brand new to Platinum.
