Wardaddy V3.0

Progress update on my 3rd attempt at 1/16 Sherman tank commander “Wardaddy” from the film Fury.
Originally just wanted to take the “slimey shine” off when I’d naïvely used gloss varnish last time.

The unit patches are very challenging at this size, any advice on painting those would be most welcome

1/16 Sherman tank commander (Wardaddy) critique sought

I’d tried to improve on my first attempt at a 1/16 “Wardaddy” tank commander from the film Fury.

These pics show the progression following two abortive attempts where I’d become frustrated and stripped all paint off and started again. There were a few other “resets” back to different stages when trying to find the balance of skin tone in different areas.
It took me five evenings to paint and I think I invented some brand new obscenities along the way.
Any tips on what I got wrong especially for the uniform (which I admit I rushed) are most welcome.

Winter Tiger Progress

Made a Winter ready Tiger from various Heng Long and Taigen parts.
I’m hoping someone has uploaded a (3d printer ) .stl file I can buy in order to print the missing tow cables, front track spares, rear mud guards etc.

How does this work?

I bought a Heng Long Tiger that came in several parts.
The electronics look like they’re mainly from the old 27Mhz systems (of which I know not much) but there’s a physical barrel that can recoil and a small electronics board that connects to a servo on the BB gun, see pics.

What does this board do and how is it tested?
I assume the board converts a dc voltage to a PWM signal to operate the servo?

Any help appreciated.

Upgrading to metal tracks

Here’s a Heng Long Tiger that I’ve nearly finished tarting up.
It was bought used and the previous owner had clearly spent a small fortune upgrading as much as they could to metal parts, eg:

Metal tracks, sprockets idlers, road wheels, bearings, suspension, gearbox, metal smoke launchers, headlight.

It looks a lot better in desert camo (imho)and sounds epic - the real squeaking from the tracks etc is great -and runs fine, but is there a simple fix to beef up the torsional rigidity of the original hull to accommodate the extra weight?

What causes this?

I noticed this cracking in the paintwork when I was applying a matte laquer coating to this Panzer iv.
Initially I thought it may be because the turret is metal but it’s affected areas on the plastic upper hull

Panzer IV assembly and progress

Bought this second hand, partly assembled Taigen Panzer IV.
It came with the wider Winterketten tracks so stripped it all down and had a go at an appropriate camo scheme.
