Copper Pipe

Had two occasions where a compression fitting has failed, tried jointing compound and PTFE, and both failed. Compression joint going into a flexi hose for bathroom tap. When I tightened it up, the pipe could turn, so I was concerned then, that was with compound. The PTFE made the most difference but failed this evening after around 3 months. Copper pipe bought from screwfix, is there such a thing as undersized pipe? New Olive tried as well. Thinking of just getting some push fit as fed up with it!
