Customer rant

“Why wasn’t my coupon added automatically?” “Well, we don’t like to assume you’d like to use it on that purchase, so it has a barcode on the app that I can scan” “You didn’t tell me that! It’s called customer service. to inform!” She proceeds to march out the door. Ma’am, for one, you never mentioned wanting to use a coupon or asking me to make sure that discount is on there throughout the transaction, also, there’s a screen on the registers to track what discounts are applied. Also, my job by telling you the total, is if something doesn’t sound right, inform me so I can help you! It’s your job as an adult shopping with money to pay attention to discounts and know where your money is going!! Kinda rude for me to think, but if coupons are never mentioned by the customer, how am I supposed to know?

I put in my 2 weeks

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I scored my dream career today and I was finally able to put in my 2 weeks. I’ll miss working here. I complained about it a lot but it gave me so much to do with my day (when I had hours ofc) So, in 2 weeks, I’ll be officially promoted to customer 🤭 wishing everyone the best on this sub and I wanted to post this as inspiration in a way as a reminder that you will get there. There will be a day where you jump from retail to your career goal and it’ll be the best feeling

Looking To Move Up

For context, I am 19 years old & I've been in the workforce for some time now. I started working a month before graduating high school at 18. I have 6 months of fast food experience and 6 months retail. One of those 6, working in 2 customer service jobs at once. I've tried to work my way up into management. I've looked at other companies and seen their job description matching what I do as a normal cashier/team member already, just with a different title. Most management jobs nowadays look for at least 1 year leadership. (None of my current jobs are hiring leadership so there's no way to move up with my current companies) What would be a good way to explain in a cover letter that I complete these tasks at a lower level while wanting to boost my title and payment for doing so to benefit another company? A lot of my applications have been pushed away by AI & my cover letters aren't fully considered. I'm a fast learner & knew everything about all my jobs day one and stood out. I feel as though I'm ready for management. How do I show others I am as well?
