C09 EAD finally approved, can I take a part-time job or change employers while I-485 is pending?

Hi,

I'm hoping to get some advice from others who have been in a similar situation.

I filed my EB-2 NIW adjustment of status concurrently with my I-765 and I-131 on October 28, 2025.

Timeline:

I-485 filed: October 28, 2025

I-765 filed: October 28, 2025

I-131 filed: October 28, 2025

Biometrics: November 2025

I-765 approved: July 28, 2026

EAD card produced: July 30, 2026

I-485: still pending / being processed

I-131: still pending

I have now received my EAD, which is a huge relief because I had been waiting nearly nine months for employment authorization.

My situation is a little complicated because I was previously working under TN status, but I am now relying on my pending adjustment of status/EAD rather than TN for employment authorization.

My question is what I can actually do with the EAD while my I-485 remains pending.

Specifically:

Can I take a part-time job with a second employer while continuing my current full-time job, using my EAD?

Can I leave my current job and switch to a completely new employer using the EAD while my I-485 is still pending?

My immigration lawyer hasn't been much help lately, so here I am asking y'all!!

16 Weeks on CJC-1295 (No DAC), but Only 2 Weeks with Ipamorelin – Should I Stop or Continue?

I've been on CJC-1295 (no DAC) continuously for about 15 weeks, and next week I'll be starting week 16.

The issue is that I only started ipamorelin about 2 weeks ago, so I've only been running the combination of CJC + ipamorelin together for two weeks. I didn't realize when I started that they're commonly used together, so I added the ipamorelin much later.

Now I'm trying to figure out the best course of action.

Should I:

  • Stop both now because I'm already at 16 weeks of CJC?
  • Stop the CJC but continue the ipamorelin?
  • Continue taking both together for a while longer since I've only had two weeks of the combination?

For those who have experience with this combination, what would you do in this situation, and why?

EB-2 NIW AOS – Anyone else still waiting on their EAD this long?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar or has any insight.

My timeline:

  • Priority Date (NIW): June 20, 2024
  • From Canada, applied in USA
  • I-140: Approved
  • I-485 / I-765 / I-131 filed: October 28, 2025
  • Biometrics: November 2025
  • I-485: "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed" since February 18, 2026
  • I-765: Still showing "Case Is Still Being Processed" since November 25, 2025
  • I-131: No meaningful updates since the receipt notice
  • My receipt notices were issued by the National Benefits Center, and I have not received any transfer notice.

My I-485 at least moved to active review, but my I-765 hasn't had any visible update in over seven months. From what I've seen on this subreddit, many October 2025 AOS filers received their EADs months ago, and quite a few have already had their I-485s approved.

The EAD is my biggest concern right now. I'm currently employed, but I'm hoping to transition to a new position this summer as my Post Doc is expiring. Having the EAD would provide unrestricted employment authorization and make that transition much easier. The continued delay has created a lot of uncertainty.

Because of the lack of movement, I recently submitted a congressional inquiry through my U.S. Representative's office. They confirmed that the inquiry has been sent to USCIS, and I'm currently waiting for a response.

Has anyone else had an I-765 remain pending this long while the I-485 is already under active review? If so:

  • Did your EAD eventually get approved first?
  • Or did USCIS skip the EAD entirely and approve your I-485 before the I-765?
  • Did a congressional inquiry appear to make any difference?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar timeline or experience.
