Is it safe to continue interviewing and accepting J2 if offered?

I told a recruiter that I didn’t have an LinkedIn , they found it. ( stupid mistake I know) Both LinkedIn and Resume have J1 I need to list it since it has most of my experience. The recruiter handed me off to another recruiter and now I have an interview with the hiring manager. If offered should I accept it as a J2? I will tell them I reactivate it since I’m job searching.

Just got rejected for a higher paying job.

Hey guys, I know I am very blessed but I just can’t help but feel behind financially. I am currently 26 about to turn 27. Just had two interviews I thought went great and got rejected. The role I was interviewing for would have been a huge salary bump. I am currently making around 76.5k a year with a 10% annual bonus. Just wanted to see if I’m doing okay or I am just feeling behind because of social media and my own ambitions. What was everyone salary at around this age?

Just wanted to vent and get everyone’s opinions

I’m a Senior Analyst at a large fin tech company, and I genuinely love my job and the company I work for. My mid-year review was strong overall, but my director gave me two areas to improve: sharing more work so my teammates have more development opportunities (which I agree with), and building stronger relationships with my direct team.

The second one is where I’m struggling. My team is very social and they act like close friends. I’m naturally social too, but after past experiences where work friendships and jokes backfired, I’ve become more cautious.

My director has noticed that I’m more outgoing with other teams and asked why I’m not like that with my own team. The difference is that when I’m leading cross-functional projects, I’m focused on creating a comfortable environment for everyone to work together and it’s all for work.

I am more cautious with my direct team, part of that comes from a recent situation where someone on another team made a joke about one of my teammates. I repeated it in our team chat, and it was later brought up as a negative in my review. It was confusing because I’m being encouraged to integrate more into the team culture, but the one time I tried, it backfired. The joke wasn’t anything sexual or making fun of the persons just something about one of the projects they did.I even made the same joke about one of my projects. I won’t go into detail to protect my identify.

I’ll also admit I had been skipping our biweekly virtual happy hours because I didn’t realize they were considered mandatory or important.

After talking with a coworker I trust, I’m going to start attending, participate more in team chats, and make more of an effort. But still not to the level they are at now.

I don’t want to force friendships at work, but I’m willing to pay my dues before making an internal move for better opportunities.

For anyone who has been in a similar situation: Did you lean into the team culture, or did you just do the minimum to maintain good working relationships? Also, am I being unreasonable?
