do people in the middle east have an aversion and disgust towards black dogs and black cats? and if so why?

apologies if this comes across as insulting or ignorant but it’s something that has left me curious for quite some time

i have many middle eastern friends (actually living in mena, not migrants) and most of them don’t own pets but if they do it is always a pale white cat. rarely any other colour

it has always interested me because cats come in so many diverse and unique colours. where are all the darker cats? are they extinct? hiding? left out to die?

i tried to search up “قطة” in google images and again it was all pure white albino cats with the occasional orange or slightly tannish cat. it became even worse when i looked up “قطة کیوت” at which point it became impossible to see even one darker cat. not even an orange one showed up

meanwhile “cat” and “cute cat” in google images brought way more diverse and colourful photos

i asked one of my friends and he told me most people in mena think darker-complexioned animals are ugly, dirty or possessed by jinn

strangely, it appears that most arabs compulsive obsession with whiteness extends not just to human beings, but even towards animals

Why are Egyptians so funny? 😭

They always have the best jokes. They’re all naturally funny and they light up any room they walk into

I swear Egyptians take NOTHING seriously 🤣

Who are Yajuj and Majuj and have we discovered them yet? Where are they? What are your theories?

i’m gonna turn 20 in a few days and i feel devastated

i didn’t discover this community until very recently. i was 17 when i first found out i was femboy so i was already very late to the party and missed out on a big chunk of my youth

i used to cope thinking that at least i was still young, but now as i approach my twenties idk how to cope anymore

im full of dread and anxiety about my future. i don’t think i can continue doing this feminine stuff as a grown adult anymore. it just doesn’t seem suitable or socially acceptable 😔

older fems like us are treated so terribly and we don’t deserve it at all

sorry :(

Is it a common belief among people in the balkans that drinking coffee will turn you into a Turk?

This is a serious question. I have a friend from Bulgaria who never drinks coffee and he tells me it’s because he doesn’t like the taste

However he also admitted to me that when he was a kid his grandmother used to threaten him by saying that drinking coffee will “turn you into a Turk”

It really confused me when he said that. Is it common in the Balkans to scare kids like this? Do people believe that drinking coffee will turn you into a Turk?
