What did you think of it? It's called Jaadugar, the first episode came out yesterday.

Marrying outside of the culture

Hi guys

I tried to post this on the marriage subreddit but for some reason, it kept getting removed so this is why I’m asking here.

So basically, I’m a 20 years old girl from an Arab country (Maghreb) and my parents have been talking about marriage to me because we marry quite young here as a woman. I’m okay to get married and I’m actually looking for it.
The problem is that I have no interest marrying someone from my culture because I don’t like the way men here view women, and their mindset but the thing is my dad will NEVERRRR accept someone from another country😭
I was wondering if anyone relates to me and if you managed to convince your parents to marry outside of your culture ? Any advice?

How will the Iran war influence Middle east politics in the long run?

Regardless of how in detail this war will end, it is sure now that the regime will survive it.

At the same time, they have shown that they are able to fully block the Hormuz strait, one of the world economy's biggest possible chokeholds, and inflict damage in Gulf countries without the US being able to shield them off.

Trump also now seems to be much less positive about Israel.

What do you think will be effects of this?

Will Gulf countries change course?

Will Iran achieve greater power over the region?

Will other players indirectly gain more power in the region, such as Türkiye, Syria or Egypt for example?

what are your honest thoughts on this movie?

the scene where the main character kills an entire muslim family went viral among far-right people. a lot of people from the american and european far-right seemed to love it, so i watched the movie yesterday to see the context behind that brutal scene.

now I understand why the american and european far right are so dumb. they live without any sense of art. the movie they praise is full of plot holes and cheesy, dumb scenes. the script feels like it was written by a 17 yo neo-nazi discord edgelord.

funniest part for me was the religious muslim family protecting a young boy who committed rape and saying that "if women dress openly, men will rape them," basically justifying what he did.

far-right are complete cattle :D

It seems like that there is a targeted campaign against Egypt due to Hossam Hassan waving the Palestinian flag after Egypt's win at the World Cup. What do you think is the reason and why do they use easily debunkable lies?

Is Iran a real threat to Gulf countries? Say NATO closes all of its military bases in the Gulf nations, what might happen between Gulf countries and Iran

Why do many people(particularly women) seem to have serious, reserved or stoic faces in many Middle Eastern countries?

Its just my observation, but many of people have somewhat grim or reserved faces rather than neutral ones in public transport for example. Is it due to Economic problems or rooted in religious norms or culture? Because from what i see Christians in Muslim countrues tend to smile more and have less serious faces from what I see, despite living under the same conditions. By these countrues i mean countrues like Iran, Turkey.

I want to listen to more music from MENA. Where do I start?

Hey everyone!

I recently re-discovered Rachid Taha and I just love his music! I’m hungry to hear more music from the Middle East and North Africa region and I’ll take any genre from any country. I don’t mind the language either. Just adding that I can read MSA if it helps me to look for content online.

Rai, shaabi, tarab, pop - you name it. Share your favourite artists and songs and why I should give it a listen!

Shukran lakom!
