GT86 Body Kit Help

Hey all, so I bought a 2016 GT86 over two years ago and, as much as I wanted to do a few bits to it, I figured I’d wait and see if I still enjoyed the car before committing to anything. But to nobody’s surprise, I still absolutely love it, and driving it brings me just as much joy as the first time I got behind the wheel.

So I’ve decided it’s finally time to make it my own. There’s a body kit I really like the look of that I’ve had absolutely zero luck locating, so I’ll attach a picture and hopefully one of you might know the best place to buy it or the individual pieces.

I’ll also happily take any recommendations you guys have in general, anything from favourite oil to use, performance upgrades, aesthetic mods like alloys or interior changes, literally any suggestions are welcome.

I’m also based in Ireland, so any places you recommend ordering from would need to deliver here :)

Alt levelling?

Hey guys, question about alt characters.

I’m looking to make a dedicated character mostly for taming and breeding, but honestly I really can’t deal with the leveling grind again. I was doing a bit of research and saw someone suggest using a geyser farm by setting up a defendable base and just farming the animal kills for XP.

A couple of questions though, does the geyser have much of a cooldown? And is it actually one of the best leveling methods or do people prefer something else? I’ll be bringing the new character into my main Olympus world, so they’ll have access to most things if that helps with prep.

Also, is there anything that gives XP boosts like certain foods etc?

And another question about workshop/bio-lab items, what exactly is the point of insurance? Is it worth getting? If I get items from the workshop or bio-lab, can I send them back up the same way, or do I need to physically bring them back in a dropship and then respawn back in?

Thanks in advance.

Bench problems

Hi all, I had a bit of a problem last night. I came back from adventuring and found my carpentry bench missing. Bit of a pain considering they’re fairly expensive to build, but whatever, it is what it is.

So I made another one and placed it in the exact same spot as the old one. During a flash storm I noticed damage numbers popping up, went to investigate, and saw the bench was taking damage indoors and being classed as unsheltered even though it definitely wasn’t.

Has anyone had this happen before or know a fix for it?

Great hunt f**k up!

Hi guys, posting here yet again for advice 😂

I bought the Great Hunts and was so excited to start them that I didn’t really look much up beforehand. After finishing the first mission, I did a quick Google search and saw a post from someone saying the burrows constantly spawned near their base in the forest and that while trying to do other missions they were constantly being attacked by quarrites.

That kind of put me off a bit, so I backed up an old save and abandoned the mission because there’s still other Olympus stuff I want to do before fully focusing on the Great Hunts.

So my question is, is that actually how it works? Do they constantly respawn around your base once started? And am I okay because I abandoned the mission, or do I need to go back even further to before I started it at all?

Thanks in advance.

Any expert breeders?

Hey guys, can anyone explain the breeding system in Icarus to me a bit better?

I’ve got the basic idea of taming animals and using fertility serum and all that, and I’ve just started taming wolves and am planning on using them to get a better understanding of breeding.

But what exactly am I aiming for when it comes to bloodlines, genetics and phenotypes? I’m pretty sure phenotypes are random, right? I also remember seeing people mention breeding alpha animals, is that actually a thing or am I misunderstanding it?

And is it worth making a dedicated breeder character for the talent points, or not really? The thought of leveling another character again so soon is honestly killing me.

Thanks guys.

Kinetic rifle preferences?

Hey guys, quick question on your preferred kinetic rifle setups.

I’ll be getting mine soon and was looking through the upgrades. The focusing barrel and precision stock seem like complete no brainers to me, but I’m unsure about the magazine. I’m torn between the heavy mag and the agile one.

I know the elemental choice doesn’t matter too much and is mostly preference, so I’m currently leaning towards miasmic or frost, but I’d love to hear what combinations you guys use and why.

Any input or favourite setups would be appreciated.

Help with Electricity, please :)

Hi all, I’ve a few questions about electricity setups.

What kind of setups do you typically use? I like using solar panels and battery racks purely for the aesthetic, but I can’t seem to make it through the night with the amount of racks I already have.

Do I just need more batteries for storage, or should I supplement the solar panels with a generator or something similar?

Also, how exactly does the electricity drain work? Is it a constant drain as long as things are connected, or is it more of an “as needed” type of system depending on what’s actively being used?

Any tips or examples of your setups would be appreciated.

Edit-small rant about the greenhouse stuff, i hate that even the reinforced stuff is still damaged by winds, i have a pretty big greenhouse and hate the constant repair, not looking for advice on that but wondering if they'll add a stronger tier of glass at some point.

Farming questions.

Hi all, more questions for the Icarus veterans, mostly about exotic bulbs, and I’m playing on Olympus if that makes any difference.

Obviously 50 tainted DNA for one bulb is pretty steep, so I’m wondering if the harvest amount is affected by talents or sickle attachments at all. And when it comes to growing and harvesting the exotic flowers, what’s the best way to maximise yield? Would you use a normal sickle or the lithium one for more DNA? Also probably a long shot, but does seed fertilizer work on them?

What attachments do you guys like to run on your sickles as well?

Would you guys recommend saving up a bunch of bulbs and planting them all at once rather than doing it bit by bit?

And for crop plots, is there really much of a difference between hydroponic and aeroponic plots to make the aeroponic ones worth spending Ren on for a farm?

I was also thinking of trying to make some passive Ren by selling items to the different open world specialists you unlock while doing operations at the same time. Which specialist gives the best bang for your buck so to speak, and what items are the easiest or most worthwhile to farm for steady Ren income?

Feel free to share your favourite farming methods, tips or tricks as well, I appreciate all of them

Oh, and one last quick question about the terraformer, what’s the range like for regrowing trees?

Exotics and Licences

Hi guys, quick question. Is the radar the easiest way to find exotic deposits? It just feels like a bit of a pain setting it up every time and hauling it around along with some kind of power supply.

I’m trying to grind out some of the more expensive workshop items as well as legendary weapons. Speaking of that, is the 15,000 Ren exotic licence the best way to get one, or is there another method people usually use?

Thanks in advance.

Edit-how many exotic deposits are there normally at any one time and is there a particular biome they're more likely to spawn in?

Need Some Prospector Wisdom

Hey prospectors, couple of quick questions.

Firstly about mounts. I haven’t bought any of the DLC yet as I’ve been really enjoying Olympus so far and want to do the Great Hunts and Operations before moving maps, but obviously the other maps have better mounts like slinkers, raptors, tuskers, etc. If I did buy the DLC mainly for the mounts, how much time would I realistically need to invest in each map to bring back a breeding pair to Olympus?

Secondly, what’s the tether range like on mounts following you? I like using the moa for speed, but if I’m doing an oil drill run and need extra space for ore and replacement oil barrels, can I just have a few buffalo follow behind while I speed ahead and trust they’ll catch up eventually? Is that a viable way to do large ore runs, and is there a limit to how many can follow at once?

Thirdly, tames aren’t really something I’ve messed with yet. I’ve mostly been focused on getting a decent base set up first, but since most mounts seem pretty useless in combat, would it be worth taming a wolf pack to roam around with? Do they actually make much of a difference when fighting or defending extractors? How’s their survivability and overall usefulness?

Lastly, I’d just like to hear what kind of builds people normally run. What talents can you not live without? Favourite armour? Favourite weapon or weapon type and why?

A couple of changes I’d personally love to see in future would be an even higher tier drill that could connect to some kind of hopper or transport system to move ore back automatically. Probably wishful thinking, but I like the idea. I’d also love longer electric, water and oil cables so you don’t need to place as many everywhere. Feels like it could help reduce clutter and maybe even help with frame drops.

And with the amount of rabbits around, why not add some kind of rabbit hutch similar to the chicken coop? Except because they’re rabbits they’d just breed automatically over time if both genders were in the hutch. Completely unnecessary, but I think it’d be neat.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice.

Oil barrels and forest fires

Hi guys, just curious about a few things. How many oil drills do you usually run per resource?

I’m at the point where I’d like to start building up a decent stockpile of most resources, and I also need to upgrade my base to concrete because constantly repairing after storms is getting way too time consuming. Farming silica is a bit of a pain and the limestone return doesn’t seem worth it either.

I just made a jackhammer and started using it, but the durability feels horrendous. Is it affected by pickaxe talents at all?

Also, how do you guys usually transport the big oil barrels from pumpjacks? Do most people just use a couple of buffalo with carts? I’d prefer stocking up on a ton of barrels at once rather than constantly making trips back and forth to the desert.

And with the terraforming device, does it just regrow stuff or does it fully reset an area? I had a forest fire get way out of hand when I went AFK for a while, and I’m wondering if it’ll restore the burnt trees or if I need to cut them down first before using it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello again Reddit, it feels like every post I’ve made lately has been about Icarus in some form or another. I haven’t had a survival game pull me in like this in a while, and I think it’s the mission aspect. In other survival games I usually end up burnt out just wandering around with nothing to do, so being able to jump into a mission or operation and have a clear goal is really nice.

I haven’t bought the Great Hunts yet, but they’re definitely on my list once I get more established and finish my main base.

Which brings me to building… compared to other survival games it’s kind of mid at best and has frustrated me more than once. The lack of half pieces like beams, railings, etc. is pretty annoying, especially when trying to make a decent staircase or anything with a bit of detail.

Being forced to upgrade your base just to avoid constantly repairing everything from wind and rain is also a bit rough, especially at the stone tier right under concrete. I’d love to see some kind of late game item that lets you coat building pieces to make them storm-proof, so you can actually keep the look you want for your base, animal pens, or whatever else.

But my main gripe is those fortifications. They’ve genuinely raised my blood pressure. No proper snap points, and when placing walls they end up sitting off-centre on the screen. Even trying free look to angle them just throws the placement off even more. I get the angled placement system, it makes sense depending on terrain, but the OCD part of my brain just wants a perfect square, especially when I’m trying to throw up a quick defensive cube for exotics or enzymes.

I just want a perfect square. Please.

Anyway, rant over. If you made it this far, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Edit-you also can't just upgrade the fortifications from wood to stone? so after all the time spent placing them would have to do it all over again for the upgraded versions? wtf!

Hello again all, I’m seriously enjoying Icarus, but the more I get into it the harder it is to find info, so I’m back with a few more questions.

First, oil vs electric deep ore mining, is there much of a difference? I found a graph comparing bio to electric but nothing about oil. Is it much better, and is it worth setting up a few oil miners? I also read that mining is better in harder areas of the map, like faster or more efficient. Is that true?

Also, about characters and worlds, if I make a new character can I jump into my existing open world and use everything like tools and mounts? Can I have multiple worlds going at once across different maps?

Would you recommend getting established in an open world and doing operations and great hunts from there? And can you transfer anything between maps since some blueprints and resources seem map-specific?

One more thing about breeding, what stats should I be aiming for and what tames are worth getting? Is there an easy way to target phenotypes, and is the breeding system fairly in-depth like Ark or more simplified?

Also, if you have any Icarus YouTuber recommendations I’d appreciate that as well, I haven’t had much luck finding good info myself.

Any info you can share would be really appreciated from a clueless prospector.

Hey guys, just a couple more quick questions.

What kind of setups do you use for the electric drill, and how do you get them running at max efficiency so you can mostly leave them AFK without worrying? Also, for the outside deposits, are they safe from damage or do you usually build little huts around them?

And one about the skinning table, is it affected by hunting talents like extra meat, leather, bones, etc.? Or if I take those talents, is it better to just keep skinning with a knife?

Edit-What electricity systems do you use for deep ore mining in caves to keep everything running afk?

Hi guys, quick question. Is there any way to stop storm damage to wood pieces inside my base?

I get that storms are part of the game and I’m kind of 50/50 on them. I like the idea, but I don’t love having to change the look of my base just because of strong wind.

The issue is I have a design inside my base that keeps getting damaged and I’m sick of repairing it all the time. I thought upgrading the outer walls was meant to stop this?

I’ll attach a pic of the piece and where it is. If anyone has a fix or workaround I’d really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

Edit-Thanks for all the input guys, general consensus is that particular slope is fecked so i swapped to the beeswax one for now just to save me the hassle. here's to hoping they fix it soon enough.
