Is there a chart showing what stations replace what?

We have obvious things like an advanced textile bench replacing the textile bench.

But then we have the anvil and the forge? Does the forge replace all functions of the anvil?

I'll probably keep both furnaces.

But the fabricator replaces crafting and machining? Or not?

Basically, I'm wanting to weed out what I don't need.

finally bred my first own perfect species - buffalos! Got a full perfect pair of timid bloodline, plus a perfect male stout! It was a long journey but it was worth it. Dunno what I'll breed next, perhaps Draven?

Anyone have a clue what could be causing these lag spikes? They occur randomly while moving or standing still, my FPS drops from a stable 144 to 134, exactly 10fps, then goes right back up. They are making me nauseous because I am very susceptible to motion sickness, so lag = no from me.

Hyena Taming Broken?

Was in the desert for an hour and a half last night trying to tame one and they just ignored the bait. Literally snuck up behind one. Placed the bait in front of it, and he walked past it. Also tried placing it in their walking path and they walked past it. Ended up spending the rest of my time killing every hyena I could see out of anger. (I was using the snare trap and bait)

Please help me understand this game more

I played Icarus for only about about nine hours over a year ago and left thinking "this was fun I should come back and compete it when I have time". I'm I want to come back now but there is so much about the progression/gameplay loop I just don't understand.

-There are missions and open world. How does each work, is there content that is exclusive to ether?

-How do loadouts and all the currencies work with open world?

-What is the workshop/Biolab and once agian how does that work with open world?

-What are outposts?

-It seems like some nodes on the tech tree are locked behind specific mission compleation how does the work?

Really what im most intrested in is the open world mode. I'm trying to understand if/how I can play like a normal open world survival game and experiance all the game has to offer.

Thanks in advance for any help. 😄

My Living Room (WIP)

It's about 90% done. A few touch-ups here and there, but this is it! I was very annoyed with the stairs, particularly not being able to put up rails. I improvised and put up fireplace guards.

Map housekeeping clean-up restoration

A while back I posted looking for a clean-up tool for orphan pieces stuck in rocks. Some kindly pointed me to Wemod, which had some use, but is only free for 2 hours at a time and I estimated it would take a lot of time to restore my map. Still helped though for sure.

I was looking for something else when I found a tool that DOES have what I wanted. I'm posting this because Icarus demands you pay attention to your building pieces if you want to maintain high FPS game play.

https://www.nexusmods.com/icarus/mods/289

this isn't my tool, so I can't answer much on it, but I can say for me, it saved me a lot of time starting a new map, hoping my exotic map seed was favourable, and many hours hunting down all the pieces I would have to destroy to fix my open world because drum roll....

It has a button to destroy all deployables in an open world, or by a radius!

It has a button to destroy all building pieces in an open world, or by a radius!

It has a button to destroy all splines (electrical, oil, water, biofuel pipe) in an open world, or by radius!

I worked out it would have taken me maybe a week or more to do this manually, what I did in a few button presses, after making sure my workshop stuff was sent back to the space station.

Seriously, if you would rather clean up a world you're attached to, than start a new, this helped me a lot and my FPS was back to glorious.

Buffalo burned my house down

welp, thanks to this absolute fucking GENIUS of a buffalo, somehow getting clipped through a stone wall, 6 feed in the air, and coincidentally getting stuck on my stove, I now have to rebuild my house, and replace a bunch of benches. Naturally, I had to kill him, and all but one of my other buffalo on my ranch. Out of spite, of course.

Would VIPs be happy with their order?

For some reason I got a bit of inspiration while building this and wanted to know how bad or good it is.
And I know about screen recording, my PC got no more RAM for anything other than game while I play.

Icarus, which map (dlc) as next after olympus?

Hey Prospectors!

200h into Olympus (Open World) and I think I’m finally done with it 😮‍💨 Now I’m trying to figure out which map to jump into next. I’ll probably end up buying most/all of them anyway, unless some are just not really worth it anymore.

Would you go:

Styx → Prometheus → Elysium

or just skip ahead to Elysium?

I don’t really care about story. I’m mostly into base building, exploring, grinding resources, tech progression and endgame stuff (open world)
Main thing I’m wondering: if I play Elysium first, will Styx or Prometheus just feel like a downgrade afterwards? And are there any map DLCs you’d straight up skip?

Love you all Prospectors

Trying out Open World mode, how do you guys play Icarus?

I've been learning Icarus for a while, and I finally got tired of rebuilding the same damn house over and over again just so some wolf with main-character syndrome could decide he was special and ruin several hours of my life.

So I finally started a permanent Open World on Olympus.

Honestly, it's such a relief being able to actually enjoy building without a fucking timer hanging over my head, or that constant feeling that at any moment some horny little wolf is going to come flying out of the bushes and bite my face off.

I was actually kind of traumatized by how much I hated Sons of the Forest. I went into that game expecting to love it, and instead it left me so disappointed that I genuinely became hesitant to try other survival games for a while. It was one of those games where the more I played, the more depressed I got about how much potential I felt was being wasted.

Then I tried Icarus.

And, wolves aside, Icarus is probably the most special game I've played this year. I went into it expecting another survival game and somehow ended up completely obsessed with it. At this point I'm hooked on it like heroin.

So yeah. This is my little corner of Olympus now.

Building the roof and figuring out Icarus' structural integrity system nearly drove me insane, but I'm ridiculously happy with how cozy this place is starting to feel.

-----------------------

I'm curious though: how do you guys usually play Icarus? Do you keep a permanent Open World and run Operations from there, or do you prefer doing the traditional missions and starting fresh each time?

I'm still pretty new to the game, so I'd genuinely like to know which way people who have been playing for a long time prefer.

Question: Screw Bees and House Torches

OK, so I have a question for some problems I am running into. Just hitting level 21, on my third "operations" mission from the Cont4act board to do some mining of a deep cave. Just unlocked Tier 3 tech tree but spending points in Tier 2 still.

  • Bees - From what I understand, they can only be affected by melee. But is there one weapon that works better than another? I would think something with flames would be helpful - but I can't wave a torch about and I don't think flame arrows will work. The problem I ran into is in this mission in a deep cave, they are coming in wave after wave at all different levels and they are coming from so high up that I really can't seem to get a swipe at them with my pickaxe until the last minute. I eventually had to retreat after the 3rd or 4th attack. There is an exposed honeycomb I see (although I expect there are others by number of bees), if I collect it and the accompanying queen will the swarm go away? OR anyone have a suggestion on best way to fight them?
  • Torches in a cabin - I have a floor torch and now have access to some wall torches. I don't have windows in my cabin yet because there is no way to close them in a storm (I don't think). So I rely on torch or fireplace light. But damn, I get a torch (Floor or otherwise) anywhere near a roof that is one wall high and I catch the cabin on fire. I thought this may have been specific to the floor torch, so I built a few wall torches thinking they were made for a cabin. It seemed to work the first few times but then I had the cabin catch on fire. (God bless water baloons). It's possible it was a lightening strike on the back of the cabin because I don't know the protective radius of the lightening rod, but I don't think so. Is there a safe way to light the cabin other than a floor torch in the middle of a two story room where it's in the way? Maybe wall torches but at hip level instead of head level? Any suggestions?

Sending ren to orbit

So I’ve been farming cocoa to sell to the trader for ren and I’m just wondering if in multiplayer sending the ren to orbit will give it to both of us like the exotics do or do we need to split the stack and send them separately?

Downed Drone Missions Awful

Not sure what I am doing wrong but these missions seem ridiculous, I am playing on olympus and I have a moa with +18% speed, I have tried these missions three times, all three times I got to the drone with nearly 5 minutes to spare, activated it, and then it self destructed around 90% complete. my base in L12 and the drone spawns in N12 every time, its just so far away I can't get there in time to actually complete the mission.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there something I'm missing? These just seem a little ridiculous. Going to stop taking these missions for now, I also very frequently get issues with the worms spawning under the terrain and shooting the floor underneath me while doing these missions, I haven't seen that anywhere else in this game.

Can anyone tell me why i cant put a floor piece here?

As seen in the images I can't place a floor piece in these locations even with support pillars close by. My assumption is that it has something to do with the height of the building with the structure being made of stone, but if that is the case why can i put pieces down in the other locations

Letting off some steam

I wanted to come here to let off some steam. I really like this game, and I've really enjoyed doing some of the missions so far. (Except maybe that insane one where you need to get 500 raw meats, etc.)

However, I'm coming here to vent about the "Handstone / Geological Survey" mission, where you need to set up three scanners in three different locations. I've been enjoying the game so much, and I'm so greedy for rewards that I decided to start playing on hardcore.

But damn, this mission would deserve a bit of love and a recode. The animals protecting those 3 spots (bear and jaguar) have a zone of effect that's way too small. If you try to snipe them with a bow, you can get them down to half health, and they will return to their zone with full health.

So I realized, "OK, the bear isn't able to go further than this very small zone for some reason, let's just place the scanner and run away."

BUT OF COURSE, for some reason, this f#king bear was now able to run after me and kill me on a way larger zone, and now I'm left with the 0-respawn screen because of this sh#t bug that clearly shows the developers didn't even try the mission themselves.

Please note: this was written in the heat of the moment after losing all my gear and modules on a hardcore map. I'm salty as hell right now 😂, but I genuinely don't have any hard feelings towards the devs. I really love the game. I just hope this mission gets some love because I'd hate for other players to go through the same thing. ❤️
