Not the prettiest, but had to adapt to the desert climate on hard mode!

So I guess I am done with missions?

After about 900hrs, I have finally tried some missions. I usually hate these types of things since it is just...find this, kill that, return this, gather 50 ore, etc... I like to do and find things myself.

Nonetheless, I have some fun doing the 5 I have done, and of course I like the rewards. However, 2 of the 5 (40%!) of the ones I have done have been glitched and I cannot "finish" them without "cheating" (like spamming a target to finish even though I got all the Bear targets). So even if the rewards are given they still leave me with a feeling of non-completion. I realize they cannot get ALL the bugs in a big game, but this is NOT Skyrim where there are Hundreds of "quests" and the game is far more complex Icarus.

As I have alluded to before, more resources need to go to these things [In My Opinion!] and just a little less toward new content. These are not minor glitches I can live with, but Well-Known issues (google). Still not sure how most of you seem to think this is ok. I guess I will just go back to my regular old survival and base-building, which of course is still awesome. Too bad, and doesn't seem right to me. I realize a lot of the reason to do these is to get the rewards anyway. Still, it almost kills the reason to do it if the is a cool goal, but you cannot reach it even though you did all the work.

Please don't come at me too hard, I still love RW and this game and have bought most all of it to support them. (The Outposts are cool but do not seem worth it to me at this time). However now with these Mission issues that again, are Well-Known...it seems unfair to the players when they DO seem to have time to fix bugs, but they are 90% simply for the New content, not the base game that started it all for them in the first place.

EDIT: After taking some time away, I have calmed down and may need to try more missions with a different perspective. I am super emotional and Bi-Polar, so I am sorry. I will leave this up though, because I do believe I have some very valid points. I truly want RW to make Millions from this game so they can do even more great stuff!

Inaris Reaper Sickle Seed Question

The Inaris Sickle says it provides increased yield and 100% reaping seed yield. Its an expensive purchase and nothing clearly says if that increased yield is also just straight up more seeds. As in, does the sickle still provide the normal resources when harvested in addition to seeds or JUST seeds? Thanks!

Is the console (ps5) port in a good place or still in a joke at the moment?

Morning all.

I want to purchase the game but heard a while ago the console version wasn’t in a good place so held off.

Have they patched it up ?

Or should I wait more?

Edit** can’t change title, don’t know why it says still in a joke at the moment, I don’t recall typing that!

Can't join each other's game (Peer-to-Peer / Steam Friends)

Hey everyone,

A friend and I want to play Icarus together more actively via Peer-to-Peer. Unfortunately, we cannot join each other at all, no matter who hosts.

Here is what we've tried and what the situation looks like:

  • Game Modes: We tried both normal Missions (Prospects) and Open World. Neither works.
  • Host Settings: We set the lobby privacy to "Steam Friends".
  • Persistence: The issue has been persisting over multiple days.
  • Basic Fixes: We tried reloading the missions, changing host settings back and forth, and restarting both the game and Steam multiple times. Nothing worked.

Whenever one of us hosts, the other just cannot connect or join the session.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows a fix? Could it be a firewall/ports issue or something with Steam's P2P networking?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

tallest tower on the longest bridge

This seems to be the longest single span bridge you can make with concrete/limestone. the center tower is about as tall as you can build on this bridge. It's completely impractical but it has a nice view. Center area is the main base with a small green house for food. the spans on the side are a double layer greenhouse filled with coffee plants to sell for Ren. located in J14 on Olympus in the dead end cannon.

Performance issues

Im sure this has been mentioned millions of times, I am on mobile, and dont feel like searching through every post. I have an okay base set up, generators, lights, all things needed for composit armor and so forth. I have 4 mounts and its little pen. Ive noticed when I first started playing, I didnt have any issues with stuttering. I was even playing on everything epic. But after getting all this set up and unlocking more things, ive noticed im stuttering and its taking the fun away. I do have a total of 3 characters all open worlds. So not sure if that has anything to do with it. I have also deleted the cache and still running into issues. If put all settings on low and have also set my Nvidia card to performance mode only and still having this issue.

Is there anything I can do to fix this without doing a full wipe of the game?

Unable to find dedicated server

Posting here and in the steam community section.

I have some friends on a dedicated server, but I am absolutely unable to find it. Ive tried all in-game options (search, favorites, friends, direct connect) and none yield results. I am able to find it in my STEAM servers but not inside of Icarus.

Ive tried dozens of different things and the one thing that has worked is connecting to my phone hotspot rather than my home router. This lets me find the game and join. But, when i switch back to my home router, the server disappears from the list again. I have played on multiple dedicated servers and never had this issue before. Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit: Im not listing all the many things ive tried, but here is ChatGPTs interpretation of my most recent diagnostic test.

What is this game?

I’ve been eyeing this game for a few months now and putting it off after hearing it’s a survival game that is broken up by a gameplay loop of missions that force you to start over - I kind of put it on the back burner for a while. But I keep coming back to it because it seems like the type of game I could love.

I wanted to gauge what some of the best aspects of the game are and if this replay loop is actually fun because it seems like a mechanic I’ve rarely seen in other survival games. I hear that the game has constant support and recently may have received an option for playing in the world for long term which sounds up my alley but not if it directly impacts the enjoyability of the originally intended gameplay loop.

For reference I’ve enjoyed survival/management games like Palworld, Subnautica, Satisfactory, 7 Days to Die, etc. I enjoy the base building systems in a lot of these games and progression that feels rewarding and fair. I’m typically a solo player, don’t mind a grind or difficulty, but do hate unnecessary tedium (a factor of 7DtD I hated and got hate for from the community for simply addressing).

I don’t want to be told this game isn’t for me, just want a breakdown of how the game has developed. Is it fun? Is the gameplay loop worth engaging with time and time again? Are the developers adding worthwhile content and QoL support? How do the missions play into progression or are they just a means to an end to keep you engaging with the same content over and over again? Does that repeat engagement remain fun in subsequent missions?

I appreciate any genuine feedback here! Have the game wish listed now and this feedback would help decide if a purchase is worth while.

F*#k living on the ground in the desert

My Lordy, the attacks are relentless if your home is not elevated. We just did the pyramid construction mission so we kept the base there and started to grow, brought my tames over from the forest base and all I’ve been doing is protecting them, I have so much bacon I’m just letting it rot but at least I have lots of leather for rope!

Scenic Base Locations

About 150hrs in on PC and absolutely loving Icarus, and currently on a building tangent. (Just love me some extravagant open-world builds). I’ve seen some pretty mind-blowing creations from other community members, but I was wondering: What are some of your favourite places to build? Currently looking at the Everbark Outpost and there are some insanely gorgeous spots. Please share your favourite locations with me ⛰️

Steam Summer Sale

TLDR version: Love survival games, this looked cool, but there were a lot of complainers on Steam reviews (as usual). Just wanted to hear from actual fans of the game on what this one offers compared to other, similar games.

Full post: So I've played a lot of survival games and I tend to rotate a lot between NMS, Enshrouded, Grounded, and Ark. I've been itching for something new and the timing couldn't be better with the Steam Summer sale going on right now. I have around $130 in store credit so I've already added Rust and Dune to my cart. Icarus is in the cart (the Prospector edition) and wanted to hear from you guys, especially newer players. The one complaint I see in the reviews is that it's predatory when it comes to DLC'S. I didn't really understand this because it doesn't seem like it had THAT many DLC's, especially not enough to call it predatory, so I wanted to see if I'm missing something. I would normally just pull the trigger, but I have other games I'm eyeing up and was hoping for feedback before I clicked buy. Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Thanks to everyone that convinced me. Only an hour in and an already in love. I recently got a a new pc with a 5070Ti and graphically this game really blows every other survival game out of the water. It's freaking gorgeous! I turned on Dune as well and the graphics are equally beautiful. These two alone were well worth the money...i took out Rust, btw. I'll use that extra credit to get the Great Hunts Campaign dlc since it's on sale as well.

New Player Questions

Heyo, I just picked up the game and I am having a fun time with it so far. I mainly have two questions as of now that I did not see any answers to. 1: Do ores respawn over time or did I just miss the game telling me how to easily locate more (I have found 1 cave so far for iron and ran for what felt like 10hrs without finding another). 2: If I load my open-world character into the "missions" option for gameplay, would that character be deleted if I die on said missions?
