AITA for refusing to replace my roommate’s air fryer after I threw it out?

My roommate had this old air fryer with a damaged cord near the plug. I pointed it out to him a few times because the cord would get really hot and once I even smelled something like burning plastic while he was using it.

He kept saying it was fine and that he’d replace it eventually.

Last weekend he left town and left it plugged in on the kitchen counter. I went to make coffee and noticed the plug area was warm even though it wasn’t running. That freaked me out, so I unplugged it and ended up throwing it out because I genuinely thought it was becoming a fire hazard.

When he got back he was furious. Apparently his dad gave it to him when he first moved out, so there was some sentimental value I didn’t know about. Now he wants me to replace it.

I do have some money saved, so I could technically do that, but I also warned him multiple times and I feel like it was getting genuinely unsafe.

I know it still wasn’t mine to throw away. AITA for refusing to replace it?

A repossession company took the utility trailer I legally bought because the previous owner still owed money

Location: Ohio

I bought a used enclosed utility trailer from a private seller about four months ago. I paid in full, got a signed bill of sale, and transferred the title into my name at a title office. I used some money I had saved to convert the inside for my small woodworking setup.

I came home and the trailer was gone from my driveway. My camera shows a tow truck taking it. I called the company and they said it was repossessed because the previous owner used it as collateral for a loan he stopped paying. I sent them a picture of the title showing my name, but they said their lien existed before I bought it and they will not return it unless the lender authorizes them.

The police looked at my paperwork but said it was probably a civil issue. I cannot reach the seller now. Can a lender legally repossess it from me even though the state transferred the title without showing any lien, and what kind of attorney would handle getting it and my equipment back?

Found out my friend lied about why he couldn't come to my birthday and idk if I should bring it up

My birthday was a few weeks ago, nothing big just dinner with like 6 people at a place we all like. One of my closer friends said he couldn't make it last minute, told me he wasnt feeling well.

Saw on instagram two days later that he was at some concert that same night. Wasnt even like a private story, just there on his feed. Tagged location and everything.

We've been friends for like 4 years and things have been a bit off for a few months but I couldn't tell if i was imagining it. I havent said anything yet and neither has he, just been normal texting since.

I'm not hurt about missing the dinner, more just confused why he felt like he had to lie instead of just saying he didn't want to come or had other plans. I wouldve been fine with that. I had a good night regardless and had extra money to cover the dinner myself anyway so it wasnt a big deal logistically.

Do I say something or just quietly note it and adjust how much I invest in this friendship going forward. Unsure if bringing it up makes me look needy or if saying nothing is just letting myself get mugged off.
