Underground Busway Pollution Exposure

Are there any studies/documents showing whether the underground harvard busway or south station/silver line stations exposure passengers or employees to bus exhaust pollution. Are there station systems to help keep the air circulating? Are the stations so old that no thought was put into this?

I thought about this today while at south station and noticed a bad smell and heat from the exhaust of the silver line busses all idling in a line.

Cape Flyer Capacity

Currently on the Sunday evening 4th of July CapeFlyer up to Boston. The train had reached almost capacity when we left Hyannis and by the time we reached Bourne and Buzzards bay the train was completely packed with some people standing.

I know CapeFlyer frequency is determined by the cape cod canal bridge but is there anyway to easily increase capacity especially on holiday weekends. I rode the train last year and it was not this packed.

Most of the train appears to already be bilevels but would it be worth it to sacrifice the cafe car/bike car for the sake of capacity. People having suitcases for spending a week/weekend at the cape take up a ton of space and they don’t fit overhead like a briefcase.

AIO for asking my roommate to not use oven during heatwave

There is a projected heatwave in the northeast this week where temps are expected to reach over 100 degrees and feels like temperatures between 105-112 degrees.

I live in an old house without central air with 3 other people. My room is on the top floor with another person and it gets extremely hot already on any warm day. If the two bedroom ACs are running upstairs in my room and someone uses the oven at the same time the power specifically in my room and kitchen goes out.

I sent a text to the group chat asking everyone if we could agree to not use the oven on Thursday (the hottest day) so that not only are we not heating up the house, but so the power does not go out in my room and my AC can stay on cooling my room and the other persons room upstairs. Two of my roommates immediately responded and said yes that’s a good idea.

The following day the last roommate who didn’t respond to my text, texted the house group chat that he rearranged some things in the fridge so his cookies he plans on baking Thursday can chill. He claims to be baking them for a friend.

I want to text him back and ask him if he can bake them at the friends house or not bake them at all during a heatwave. Am I overreacting to double down on my request or does he have the right to use the appliances in the house and I can’t ask him not to?

Tofu + Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

I have been seeing a lot of posts about GF affordability so thought I would share a GF staple my partner (celiac) and I (non-celiac) make.

We’ve been making crispy tofu with Thai chili sauce about every other week and love it.

We take some extra firm tofu cubes, season them, coat them in tapioca flour, and pan fry for about 8 minutes on high. After letting them cook we add the chili sauce and will either use noodles or rice and have some frozen chopped veggies. All the prep and cooking is pretty fast in under 20 minutes.

I’ve seen the chill sauce for reasonable prices at most grocery stores and the ramen noodles are a pretty good price of $11 at Costco where I am. Using frozen veggies is another good cheap option. Even if you’re not a great cook we find this to be an easy meal to make.
