Self-driven individuals

As many people here, I've been trying to make friends with little succes.

I joined MeetUp groups, even organized mysel. I joined bookclubs as well. I took courses, went to the gym... Is not that I didn't tried enough.

My experience was always the same. Every group or club has a few organizers. The most of the time, a sole host. People attend to the events, go back their lives and wait to another event when it suits them. And there's no follow up in between.

As an adult, I don't understand this lack of initiative on the most of the people. I tried to craft a group where everyone suggest and plan something. But I always find the same outcome, everyone spects me to organize. I wonder why is so difficult to get adults to do something on their own initiative for fun.

looking forward to read your thoughts.

Strange housemate

I'm Spanish. Myself and my Spanish friend and housemate are surprised about our new housemate.

Is an Irish guy. He is always on his room. Have no food on his fridge shelf. Don't even have a hand towel on the bathroom. Only a bottle of shower gel.

We had previously another young Irish housemate and he behaved similar. So, we are wondering if it's because we are middle aged Spanish women and they don't feel commfortable. Or, maybe, is a normal behavoir on Irish guys.

I know we have not assume that everyone acts as us. Mediterranean culture is different. I don't expect them to chat on the livingroom all the time. But it seems that they avoid us till find another place and leave.
