Brown Guy in Ireland: 32M

So I’m a financial analyst earning 100k plus, everything is good, paying my taxes etc. I’d love to have some Irish friends or in particular some Irish girlfriend. I know they arent really interested in brown guys from Pakistan. I hate how we are generally perceived. I’m not typical muslim Pakistani guy, I drink at times and enjoy beer occasionally. But it gets very lonely as I don’t know anyone here except my colleagues who are too old to hangout with.
Any suggestions besides “go back”? Thanks

Early 40s Female (Clare) Looking for Curious Souls to Explore Rural Corners of Ireland with

After reading enough posts on Reddit about making friends in Ireland, I've come to the scientific conclusion that making friends here is apparently difficult for everyone - foreigners and Irish alike. So instead of feeling discouraged, I'm lowering the bar dramatically: I'm not expecting lifelong friendships overnight, just people to enjoy what this stunning and quaint island has to offer.

I live and work remotely and am pretty introverted, so I’m not really the type to naturally go out and meet lots of new people in big group settings (I immediately want to disappear if I’m surrounded by too many unfamiliar faces in a let’s-get-acquainted situation). I have an easier time connecting one-on-one or in smaller groups, at least until I know people a bit better.

One of the bigger changes I made this year (along with moving to a different country) was quitting drinking, which may or may not have been terrible timing for someone trying to make new friends 😄 That said, I'm perfectly happy meeting in pubs for a quiz, live music or just a chat as long as I can order a lovely cup of tea.

I don’t really follow the drama of politics, so I tend to gravitate more towards conversations about life, experiences, food, the universe, philosophy, the occasional existential crises that people my age may find themselves in on a random gloomy Tuesday, and everything in between. I'd probably click best with people roughly in their mid-30s to mid-50s who live not too far from me and aren't just passing through. I like to look at the world through the prism of humour and mysticism (although preferably not at the same time 👀).

If you're someone who has made a life/is building a life here, but have difficulty making genuine connections and are open to grabbing a coffee/tea/bite, exploring a random town, visiting a local event, festival, farmer’s market, walking by a (haunted?!) lake, or simply need an excuse to get out of the house before summer disappears again, please do comment or send me a DM 😊

Moving to North Circular Road with family

Hi all,

My wife, our kid, and I are relocating to North Circular Road in Limerick soon, and I’d love to tap into this community’s knowledge before we arrive.

A few things we’re curious about:

The neighbourhood itself – What’s it like living around North Circular Road? Quiet, family-friendly, good for walks with a little one?

Meeting people – We’d love to make some friends in the area, especially other parents. Are there any local groups, meetups, or community events (parent-and-toddler groups, sports clubs, etc.) you’d recommend?

Any advice, big or small, would be hugely appreciated. Looking forward to becoming part of the community!

American football fans

Hi guy,

I’ve moved to Ireland in the past year from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, to rural Co. Galway, and I’m looking for people interested in American football. Anything from talking about games to getting involved with a team, I’m all ears. If there’s enough people interested, we could get a little community going.

Open to anything,

Cheers guys!

Dublin here I come!

Hiya, 26F here. I'm moving to Dublin in exactly one week and don't know almost anyone there! I'd love to chat and make some friends!

I'm chill and easy-going, love going out and hanging out, though not a fan of nightclubs haha, a history geek (and a freshly-crowned historian haha), horror movie aficionado, coffee lover and pub enthusiast!

So, anyone up for a chat or hanging out in Dublin?

Moving to Ireland

I’m moving to Ireland shortly (25f) + I’m personally going through hell in my personal life. I’ve been getting a lot of sweet messages but also a lot of heavily negative messages about moving to Ireland regarding immigration, regarding how disillusion I am and how lonely it is in Ireland. I’ve heard it’s extremely cliquey.

I don’t have any expectations for someone to be overly nice to me because I am moving to another country, I don’t think I have this novelty because I am American, but I guess my concern is, do you actually feel like it is that hard to make friends or establish connections in Ireland?

I don’t want to come to Ireland and be completely disillusioned. I don’t really have many expectations, but I also know that I’m in a season of life that is extremely difficult and I don’t expect to move to fix any of my problems, but I am concerned of the move exasperating some

31F from the US Looking to make friends before I move to Ireland

Dia duit 🤗

I'm not going to be moving for a few years yet, but I'm hoping to make friends ahead of time!! I'm in the process of learning Irish (Ulster dialect), so any gaeilgeoirs willing to chat would be grand, I don't get to speak it with anyone, though, so don't make fun of me too much. I'm not really sure where I'll be moving just yet, but if we see Irish Unity in the near future, I'd love to live in County Down or County Antrim, as it's where a fair share of my family is from.

Currently, I live in Virginia, USA. I'd love to chat about anything and everything. I love watching movies (horror especially), bird watching, camping, and just generally being outside.

Feel free to message me. I have AuDHD, so I tend to unintentionally get political often (not a Trump supporter). Apologies in advance for that 😅

30F – Texas, USA – Book lover looking to make new friends

Hi! I’m 30 from Texas and I’m looking to make genuine, long-term friends. I love reading (especially romance books), horror movies, true crime, and talking about TV shows. I recently started creating book content online, so if you’re a fellow reader, that’s a huge plus! I’m hoping to meet people who enjoy chatting regularly and building real friendships. Feel free to send me a message if you think we’d get along!

18m - I'm tired of all the lies, want to talk honestly to someone honest

I'm from wexford. I am at a weird point in my life between school and college.

I love having deep conversations, I love history and philosophy. I'm not pretentious tho lol. I like being out in nature and hiking. I love to travel and collect coins from all the countries I visit.

I like acting and have been in a few plays and pantomimes. I've thought about becoming an actor but am drawn more towards politics and public service.

If I seem like a person you'd chat to, give me a dm and hopefully we'll hit it off. See ya. Anyone of any age is welcome

Late 30s Irish guy living in Dublin.

Social circle has died off a while ago due to people starting families. I want to see if others on here (30s+) would like to go for a pint in town on Fridays or Saturdays. Let me know if you’re interested. Thanks

* I think we have a good enough start, reach out with a phone number if you want me to add you to the WhatsApp group. We can plan something from there.
