TheFork is a restaurant booking platform where you can get up to 50% off at your favourite restaurants!

When you make your first booking using code 'B2C4D023' (pastebin link), you'll get 1000 'Yums' (loyalty points), which can be used to save £20 at a partner restaurant (applied straight to your bill) when you spend £30.

July-August Railcard Discounts are not applied universally across train operators

According to the Railcard website for the 16-25 railcard, discounts do not apply to journeys under £12 made before 10am except in July and August.

While this discount is reflected accurately on Trainline and TrainPal, it has not been applied to Transpennine Express, which I (and I'm sure some of you) have been using for 10+2% cashback through NX and Airtime rewards.

If this applies to you, make sure to review if your upcoming journeys are affected!

Ace Money Transfer is a money transfer app. They are currently offering a £10 bonus when you transfer £100! You can simply exchange your money back into GBP to benefit from this offer. I've made more than £7 in net profit from this offer. Here's how:

  2. Transfer £100 to a foreign currency account, such as your Wise or WorldFirst Euro account. I used Wise.
  3. When the transfer is settled, you can transfer £19 and apply the £10 bonus credit. The transfer should cost £10.99 in total since a £1.99 transfer fee applies.
  4. When the Euros arrive in your Wise account, you can either spend it on your next holiday with the Wise virtual card, or exchange it back to GBP.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer. Thank you for using my referral!

Fus e Energy new referral campaign - £25 bonus guaranteed (no more spin to win)

Fus e Energy has launched a new referral campaign with a guaranteed £25 bonus per tariff. As it has previously offered a 'spin to win' offer with a chance of getting £0 according to the T&Cs, Fus e is currently not allowed on this sub.

However, since the nature of the reward has changed, it would be a great idea if we can start posting it again. This is more of a proposal and out of respect for the community, I have not posted any referral details before it has been approved by the mods.

The new T&Cs are as follows:
https://www.fuseenergy.com/promotions-and-referrals-terms-and-conditions-mobile

3. How much credit will a customer receive?

The referring customer and the referred customer will each receive £25 of credit (inclusive of VAT) for each fuel (electricity or gas) supplied to the referred customer by Fus e Energy:

  • where the referred customer is supplied with a single fuel (electricity only, or gas only), the credit is £25; and
  • Where the referred customer is supplied with dual fuel (electricity and gas), the credit is £50.

The number of fuels is determined at the time the reward is calculated. Fuels added afterwards do not change a reward that has already been calculated.

In addition to the above, the referring customer and the referred customer may each receive a further £25 of credit (inclusive of VAT) if they sign up to export electricity.

Genius (2016) Thomas Wolfe quotation

As Eugene’s eyes became accustomed to the haze of the cigarettes and cigars swirling miasma-like he saw a woman, in serge, and gloves that crept like living tendrils up her normally ivory arms, but now sun-kissed as a blush, as the incarnadine discovery inside a conch shell seen for the first time by a bewildered zoologist as he is undone by its rosy, promising pinkness; those were her arms.

But it was her eyes that stopped his breath; that made his heart leap up. Blue they were, even through the swirling vapors of pompous Chesterfields and arrogant Lucky Strikes he saw her eyes were blue beyond blue, like the ocean. A blue he could swim into forever and never miss a fire engine red or a cornstalk yellow. Across the chasm of that room, that blue, those eyes, devoured him and looked past him and never saw him and never would, of that he was sure.

From that moment, Eugene understood what the poets had been writing about these many years, all the lost, wandering, lonely souls who were now his brothers. He knew a love that would never be his. So quickly did he fall for her that no one in the room even heard the sound, the whoosh as he fell, the clatter of his broken heart. It was a sure silence, but his life was shattered.

WorldRemit | Earn ~£46 when you transfer £60!

WorldRemit is a money transfer service. They are currently offering generous rewards when you give them a try! When WorldRemit was available on Topcashback, I was able to stack their cashback and referral offer. Currently, only Quidco offers cashback for WorldRemit.

Some users have experienced a recurring issue where the vouchers were usable only once every few weeks. It was working at the time of writing (19th of June), but it is currently reported as unusable again. If you have already signed up and faced the same issue, leave a comment below so that I can send you an alert when it starts working again.

If you do not want to bother with the voucher/risk your Quidco cashback (in case they reinterpret the T&Cs to prevent stacking), you might want to consider signing up without a referral code. You can qualify for both (or Quidco only) with the instructions below.

  1. Sign up to Wise through a referral (DM for link) for free transfers. You may need to deposit £20 to verify yourself (Revolut does not work).
  2. Open a Philippine Peso account on Wise.
  3. Enable cross-site tracking and cookies on your mobile web brower.
  4. Log in/Sign up to Quidco (with a referral link for an extra bonus, DM for link) on your mobile web browser. Enable Quidco premium for a more (£40) cashback, you can downgrade after your activity tracks.
  5. Search for WorldRemit and download the app through Quidco. Allow cross site tracking and all cookies on the app. Quidco cannot track if you sign up elsewhere/with a referral link instead of a code.
  6. When you sign up, enter my referral code REFER1CG4ULLB3BZD (Pastebin Link) for a £10 voucher.
  7. Transfer £30 in Philippine Peso from WorldRemit to your Wise PHP account. Use a debit card to avoid cash advance fees. Insert "0" as the receiver’s phone number. You will be charged a £1.99 transfer fee.
  8. Your Quidco reward will be tracked within 24 hours and become payable within 6 months.

If you use a referral code, your £10 voucher will appear in the discounts section when your first transfer is complete. To redeem it:

  1. Open a New Zealand Dollar account on Wise.
  2. Apply the voucher and send the minimum amount (£30) to your Wise New Zealand Dollar account. Insert "Wise Payments Ltd. - New Zealand Br" as the receiver's address and "0" as the receiver’s phone number. It should cost £20.99 in total as you will be charged a £0.99 transfer fee.
  3. You can then convert the PHP and NZD in your Wise account to GBP.

Please comment below if you have any questions. I'd really appreciate if you use my referral code REFER1CG4ULLB3BZD !

Should I use my rewards debit card (1.50% cashback) or a regular credit card?

I currently have a modest income and a credit card with a £2000 limit. Since its 0% interest period ended, I've been using my Trading212 debit card for 1.50% cashback.

I am on track to getting a mortgage for my first home within 5-8 years. This might have to be done with a large (40-50%) deposit, unless my circumstances change (either I get promoted faster than expected, or I find a partner).

However, I am a little concerned that if I do not use my credit card regularly to establish a good credit history, I might be considered a subprime borrower. If I have to mortgage at a higher interest rate, that might ultimately cost me more than the rewards I am able to get with my debit card.

At the moment, I am unlikely to be accepted for any credit cards with more than a 6 month 0% purchase period, and I do not spend enough to benefit from an AMEX card.

With the ability to obtain credit in mind, is it worth using a debit card with better rewards over a credit card going forward? I've unfortunately not been able to find much information and would appreciate your input.

Wake for Susan - Cormac McCarthy

They discussed death and bass-fishing and square dances, and the epic of life around them seemed to unfold. They imparted to each other a great deal of understanding.

And so they fell in love; he first with her eyes and hands and then her shoulders and soft rounded hips; she with his arms and neck and wild brown hair.

Not that they spoke of these things. No words of love passed between them, and at night when he kissed her standing there on the stoop and wheeled around and headed for the gate, it seemed that he must tell her how he felt. He would turn at the gate and look back and see her standing luminescent beneath the autumn stars and he wanted to run back and crush her in his arms and whisper wild things in her ear. But he simply raised his hand and she hers, and he ambled home emptily beneath wind-tortured trees that spoke in behalf of the silent stars.
