I may need boosters for my home.
Hi all. I have been on Shaw Internet for about a year after having Telus for over a decade. I have the 2G service in Alberta and live in a two story townhome.
Here's my issue: the furthest distance in the house the Gateway has to reach is about 30-35 feet, but I have parts of the house where the connection is not as good. The Gateway is on the main floor, close to the centre of all parts of the housw. The house is 17ish years old, so no strange construction to deal with.
The Shaw internet is heads and shoulders better than the Telus internet I got stuck with when I moved here. But, I have a few questions.
My questions are:
Will Rogers ever provide boosters at no charge (they were free with Telus, and funny enough they were shipped to me without me even asking for them). The house is 1200 square feet including the basement, so having issues with wifi speed in spots is a bit annoying.
If I have to pay for them, which isn't a deal breaker, is there just the one kind I see on the website?
Are 3rd party boosters difficult to use on the system?
Does anyone know if Shaw (Rogers) sets their service lines up with MoCa filters when the internet is installed in a house?
In the end it's not a major concern, but I would like an idea what direction to go before I work on the trouble spots. It's mainly for gaming, so the worse connection spots can cause some lagging on occasion.
Thank you!!🙂
