A card city-building game I'm developing, ensuring it runs well on Steamdeck

(Forgive the video quality, I wanted to make sure I captured actual Steamdeck gemplay)

Thought I'd share this video of me playtesting a game I'm working on. One of my top priorities is making sure it runs super well on handheld devices, particularly the Steamdeck.

The game itself is a bit of a crossover between Final Fantasy's Triple Triad and a city building game like Dorfromantik. With a cyberpunk/futuristic backdrop. It's designed to be very simple with a focus on "drop in and play a game or two" mentality. I also have a autonomous monthly Leaderboard feature for some competitiveness, but still need to work on building/card variety.

The amount of profiling and optimization I've done even on a simple game like this has made me question the decisions I made on my previous game, and having both gamepad+touch and mouse+keyboard controls working side by side can be a challenge! 😅

The game is called Neon Pulse - if you're interested I have an early Steam page set up to start gathering Wishlists!

It's a bit of a polished vertical slice at the moment, but let me know what you think, happy to hear feedback or answer any questions!

A card and tile placement system I've been working on in UE5

I've been iterating on the logic, look, and feel for this one for quite a while now and wanted to share it for some feedback and thoughts. It's for a casual city building game inspired by games like Triple Triad where you build futuristic neon-lit cities. There's also a sorta photo mode with filter options I show later in the video.

I've really focussed on accessibility and control support for this one, so I have full gamepad support and it's compiling for both PC (with Steamdeck in mind) and the Nintendo Switch - both with decent framerates so far!

I still need to work on the look and variety of the buildings, but I guess that's for when I flesh out the "game" of it.

All created using Unreal Engine 5 which I recently brought my engine version up to 5.7.4 having been stuck on 5.0.3 for the last couple of years! I build the engine from source as I have a few essential plugins and the Nintendo SDK.

I have an early Steam page set up too which I'm happy to share if there is interest!

Happy to hear any thoughts or feedback, or answer any questions!

Blender/App Guides and FAQ

Hi folks!

I'm the developer of the No Man's Sky Blender add-on and the Base Builder App.

I tend to lurk on Reddit these days but just thought I'd drop a few useful links for anyone new to these tools and want some direction to get started.

🏗️Guides for the Blender add-on

🚀Guide for the Base Building App

I've noticed a fair amount of common questions and misconceptions about the tools too, so for this I've written an FAQ page. :)

FAQ

My pages and the Nexus Mods pages all have relevant links and videos (some are fairly old, but still relevant), and don't forget there is a dedicated Discord for my tools if you get that far.

Happy building!

A card/tile placement framework I’ve been working on for a casual city builder game, and I think I'm finally happy with it!

Built using Unreal Engine 5, and influenced by games like Final Fantasy's Triple Triad and Queen's Blood, Dorfromantik, and Othello

After finishing the release of a fairly dense RPG mystery game - I'm scaling back my scope for my next game.

I have a super early Steam Page set up for it if you're interested, now to just make a game with it! 😂
