Delaware County issued $6.8M in bonds that were never signed. The Treasurer admitted they may not be enforceable. The Prosecutor won't investigate. Let's change that.

TL;DR: Delaware County issued $6.8 million in bonds for a private sports complex. The documents were never signed. The leases were never notarized. The Treasurer admitted he wasn't sure they were enforceable. The county is on the hook for the money — and the Prosecutor won't do anything about it.

Here is the short version:

· $6.8 million in bonds were issued

· The bond certificate was never signed by the fiscal officer — required by Ohio law

· The leases securing the bonds were never notarized — meaning no enforceable collateral

· The county gave the money to a private developer with nothing enforceable in return

· The Treasurer admitted in a public meeting he wasn't sure if they were enforceable

· The Prosecutor has done nothing

What we need:

The Delaware County Prosecutor is the only one who can pursue criminal charges.

We need them to hear from the public.

You do not have to live in Delaware County to send an email. Columbus has been extremely supportive of this effort so far. It matters. People are paying attention. And that pressure is what forces change.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone in this sub and the r/cbusohio sub. You all have been more than awesome. The support, the engagement, the willingness to pay attention — it matters more than you know.

If I can do anything to help you or your community, I'm here. Just ask.

Together, we hold them accountable.

Please if you have 60 seconds Email the Prosecutor:

delcoprosecutor@co.delaware.oh.us

Copy and paste this message or make your own just asking them to investigate.

Dear Prosecutor's Office,

I am writing to express my concern about the $6.8 million in unsigned, unenforceable bonds issued by Delaware County.

The bond certificate was never signed. The leases were never notarized. The Treasurer admitted he wasn't sure they were enforceable.

This is taxpayer money. It deserves an investigation.

Please confirm what action your office is taking.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
