Could I use nettle stems to make strings for a makeshift lute-like instrument?

I’m just wondering because in the summer I’m going to pass the time and practice my luthier skills by making an instrument from just nature (and a few screws), and I don’t particularly want to buy strings. So, I was wondering if it would even be possible to make nettle stems into strings for a low tension instrument.

There was a small ‘incident’ with the lele

I broke the neck clean off while adjusting the truss rod, so I bolted and screwed it back on, had to cut a chunk out of the face of the instrument to reach the neck. Removed the frets in an attempt to add my own but alas, they did not work, now Idk what to do with this thing.
