The 17 and its new little bro, the 13

Another ebay find. Now all I need to do is find an r3/r4 15 and id have the whole family :D Im still testing the 13, Ive run out of drives and cannot properly install an OS for stuff like furmark. Live sessions of linux have limited function for what id like to test, at least to my knowledge. Both also need the charger plugged in at all times. Batteries are bad, and I only got one cable between em. Dont know what im gonna do with the 13, the original issue was the dc jack when plugged in, it shorted the brick. I thought it was a problem with the charge circuitry and Id have to go cap hunting. After taking it apart and putting it back together, it booted right up no problem. Ran diagnostics and found the battery wasnt recognized by the system, meaning it wouldnt charge it, which probably was why it shorted out the brick. Huge W, these are decently rare. Dell discontinued the 13 inch models after the R3, so its the last small alienware. They should attempt an 11 inch model again like with the m11x.

Will do a showdown vs a 13 inch razer once I get that battery for it. Gonna be interesting

Update: one of the drives I thought was dead actually lives, so I threw windows on it and am now doing some thermal testing in furmark. So far after about 7 minutes its already reached 90 c lol. I ran out of ptm unfortunately so its currently running conventional mx-4, I hope to get more soon after I sell some of my other projects. Thanks for the support everyone!

The franken blades

2 2019 blade stealths made from 3 for parts blades I found on ebay. The one running windows is going to be my personal machine since it has 16gb of ram and the mx 150, which sucks since the previous owner absolutely destroyed the usb ports. Works great otherwise. Both work great, just the linux one has keyboard problems due to how it was shipped to me, and its a bit dirty. The third machine has a dead keyboard on top of that sooooo, no help there for that one currently. Fun little machines however, the intel hd 620 graphics on this run botw and some other lighter games acceptably. Oh yeah, and both of them have ptm7950 on their dies, so they run cool as hell. I also have a 2018 blade 15 advance and a 2020 15 base silver im waiting on batteries for. Ill show those off here when I get em fixed. If anyone has questions lemme know!

$200 P31E 17 R5 refurbished with PTM 7950 on both the CPU/GPU dies, great results in Furmark and Fire Strike Extreme!

Been fixing up for parts laptops from eBay and picked this one up for cheap. To my surprise it is not in fact an R4 as listed, but an R5 once I got it into an OS, so huge win since it has 2 extra cores to play with over the R4. Wanted to push it further, so I put some new pads on the vrms and other bits covered by the heat sink, also some PTM 7950 instead of regular paste. Gotta say, hype is real if you have the spare money. Stable 59 package load and 70 hot spots once settled in Furmark over a 30 minute period, and not a bad score in Fire Strike Extreme. I highly recommend PTM if you have an Alienware from this generation and above. I got mine from LTT, but I'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Heck, maybe even from Honeywell themselves nowadays with how widespread it is.

Another thing, what are some good alternatives to AWCC for lighting and fan control? Cant even install a legacy version on this since its running Windows 11 and not 10. Though honestly, that may be a good thing from what I've heard about that software... If anyone does have a way to put the original AWCC on here let me know since Id like to mess around with it anyways. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thank you to u/Intramundane in the comments for pointing me to the 5.x installer of AWCC, after installing I was able to set the fans on full speed for stress testing, ended up getting a 52 package average and a 63 hotspot after about 22 minutes on the gpu in Furmark! Ran cinebench as well, unfortunately super slow due to this machine only having one functioning dimm slot, but it averaged about 85 degrees on all cores during testing, surprised it didnt hit 100 honestly
