Carry ammo jam

Everything I put through, jams. Range ammo cycles fine. Hollow points will not go into battery.

WIP 911 GT3 RS

This is my 10th build. Had a really hard time with body decals. Some of them tore. Trying so hard to make everything perfect. I need to apply the 2k, but it is so humid here in Maryland. I find it hard to pull the trigger. I liked it more when I just had fun. After this build, I’m going to continue building for fun. It’s obviously not a competition. It should be for fun. I’m only going to post finished builds after this.

Kitty hawk kites 🪁

My wife and I took a weekend trip to obx. Haven’t been here since I was a teen. (41 now) We went to kitty hawk kites. The staff worked with me to find this awesome dual line stunt kite. I’ve always wanted to fly a real kite. It was awesome. It only took a few times to get it up and figured out. So glad we went there, and thankful to the lady who gave her time to help me….and my wife for helping me get it in the air. Childhood dream fulfilled. 🫶🏻

88’ Mustang GT

Really happy with the work I’ve put into this. Primer, paint, sanding and clear. Still nervous to try new stuff. Happy with the result.

1969 Chevelle SS 396

I really enjoyed this build. I didn’t have a lot of time to work on this at one time. Two things I wish I would have done: polish and trim paint. I was nervous for both, and settled without. I had minor fit issues on the body to chassis that I could not fully reconcile. I will go out of my comfort zone on the 911 build. For my next build, I will also take “real” pictures with good lighting and a white background.

69 Chevelle SS-WIP

Getting close to being done on this 69’ Chevelle. It’s been really slow building. Life, work, kids…summer. First time trying to make my own carpet interior. First time trying new paints and my new Mr. hobby PS-290a airbrush. It’s really smooth! Waiting on the wheel pins to come in the mail that ran away into the land of misplaced/lost parts. I recently almost finished my first NASCAR Dale Jarrett model, but boxed it up over some decal issues. (30 year old decals) I’ve since got new ones on eBay, and will start when I am done with this car.

I hope everyone is staying cool, and enjoying their summer!

Paint haul from ProScale

I recently started following Kit builder Chris on Instagram, and he was using ProScale paints on some of his builds. The colors have so much depth and pop. Can’t wait to try out the primer, paints, chrome and 2k system. I tried using Amazon flocking powder, and it was terrible. ProScale flocking looks legit.

Bonus: They sent a hand written “Thank you” message. Will definitely be supporting this company again in the future.

Are the dimes worth anything substantial? TIA

Hot take maybe: HPIguys workshop

I thoroughly enjoy watching his videos. He uses a lot of rattle cans. Primer and all. He also does great brush work too. He makes models look so easy. I’m over here airbrushing and brush painting. Meticulously going over every fine detail. I feel like he could possibly do a model per week or faster. At the end of the day, he’s producing built kits that look amazing, and I feel like I barely make progress and mine don’t look half as good. Is it just me, or is modeling more involved than he makes it out to be? Am I working harder than I should? Again, his models always look amazing. I just feel like I must be doing something wrong.

Adding some HL airbrush ready paint to the arsenal.

I’m not the best at airbrushing. I sometimes get orange peel. Most times it lays out super smooth. I use a $25 Timbertech airbrush from Amazon with and 0.5 needle. I’ve been able to dial it down to do really fine work, like the mini guys. It also sprays body’s and chassis’ no problem. I’ll definitely upgrade to Iwata soon. I think u/jonjon??? Posted a spoon pic of a cool redish pink color, and I decided $35 in HL paint was worth a try. 😂 2 silver base units. 1 black, 1 grey primer. A bunch of bright colors. I also updated my spray colors with a few of the crafting Krylons.

I just had a bday. My kids got me a model I would have never chosen, but am excited to build after the current bench work. I also got the vevor spray booth today. Happy to finally have something to protect me out in my shed.

My kids gifted me this for Christmas. I had worked on it, and boxed it up several times over the last few months. Not my best work. But, for my 9th model, I’ve learned a lot. Vallejo primer and paint for the body. Gx112 gloss. Not as glossy as I wanted. Mostly Tamiya acrylic paint. My last Revell did well with microscale decal solution. These decals only wanted water.

I’ve always been into the stranger things show. The first season was the best. I remember watching it with my son, when it first came out. He was about the age of the kids in the show at the time.

This model is really well made, by Revell. The sprue is almost as perfect as a Tamiya model. Fit has been great. It even has a few extra goodies like Hopper’s cowboy hat and a box of eggo waffles with a decal to go over the box.

First time using GX 112 for clear. I’ve done multiple coats. I was hoping for a better shine. Good thing is, it made the paint really durable.
