Hey guys! I wanted to bring this up and see whether anyone else feels the same way, or whether this has happened to you with another actor. I’ve watched several Ding Yuxi dramas now, including Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, The Romance of Tiger and Rose, and currently Love You Seven Times. After seeing him in a few different roles, I’ve realized that I sometimes have trouble connecting with him as the main male lead.
To me, he has a softer and more boyish appearance. He gives me more of the vibe of a sweet, quirky, slightly naive character who likes having fun and doing cute things. Because of that, I personally have a harder time seeing him in very powerful, serious, or intimidating roles, such as a general or the God of War in Love You Seven Times. I’m enjoying the story, but I’m struggling to fully believe him as that type of character. I actually think the role that suited him the most out of the dramas I’ve watched was his role in Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. His appearance and energy really matched that character. In some of his other dramas, though, I feel like I see him more naturally as a second male lead or a memorable side character rather than the powerful central romantic lead. This is only my personal opinion, and I completely understand that many people love him and connect with him in these roles. This is by no means me saying that Ding Yuxi is a bad actor or anything like that. I think this is just a normal human experience sometimes you naturally connect with an actor on screen, and sometimes you don’t. Has anyone else felt this way about Ding Yuxi, or experienced something similar with another popular actor?

Hey guys! I’ve been rewatching all my favorite dramas because I cannot find anything new that actually grabs me.
I’m looking for something similar to The Starry Love, Till the End of the Moon, Lost You Forever, Story of Kunning Palace, The Double, and The Romance of Tiger and Rose.
I strongly prefer a female main character, lots of romance, complicated relationships, emotional drama, and maybe multiple love interests or a good love triangle. I also like more complex plots, as long as they don’t become painfully repetitive. Please give me your best recommendations, especially if you liked most of these shows too. I cannot survive another rewatch.

I’m rewatching Till the end of the moon, and I keep thinking about the dream sequence. Before it happened, the main characters obviously had some feelings for each other, but their relationship still felt mostly built on hatred, distrust, and conflict. Then, after experiencing the dream, they suddenly start becoming much more loving toward each other. Wouldn’t that make their love feel a little… artificial?
I understand that the dream didn’t create their feelings out of absolutely nothing, but it almost feels like it pushed them into loving each other before they naturally would have. They experienced this entire life together, came out of it emotionally affected, and then started acting like, “Oh my God, I love you, and now I need to love you properly.”
It makes me wonder whether they truly fell in love with each other, or whether the dream confused and emotionally influenced them into believing they were in love. Their relationship feels less like something that developed naturally and more like something that was built for them. This is my second time watching the drama, and I honestly don’t remember everything, so please correct me if I’m misunderstanding it. I genuinely want to be wrong about this because the idea that their love was partly forced or fake would actually break my heart. 😭

I’m currently watching My Royal Nemesis, and I have really mixed feelings about it. At first, I honestly didn’t understand why some people were saying it dragged. I thought it was really interesting. It has two of my favorite tropes romance and time travel so it immediately had my attention. I was having a genuinely good time with it.
But after around episode 11… I kind of get it now.
It feels like the story keeps resolving the same conflict only to bring it back again in a slightly different way. The biggest example is the female lead constantly going back and forth between “I want to be with him” and “No, I can’t be with him.” I understand why she’d struggle with that, but it feels like every tiny thing resets her character development. At some point I just wanted the story to move on and introduce different conflicts instead of repeating the same one. I’ve also seen people say this would’ve worked better with 16 episodes, but I actually think the opposite. I feel like if they trimmed a lot of the repetitive scenes, this could’ve been an amazing 12 episode drama. There’s a lot that could’ve been condensed without losing the heart of the story. As for the villains, they’re… okay. I appreciate that they tried to humanize the main male antagonist instead of making him cartoonishly evil. I like that approach. I just wish they pushed it further. I want to understand his motivations enough to think, “I get why you became this way,” while still recognizing that his actions are wrong. Right now it feels like they almost get there, but not quite.
The plot is also a little confusing at times. There are still several questions I’m waiting to have answered, so I’m trying not to judge those yet since I haven’t finished the drama. One thing that confused me, though, is how the female lead seems so close to the king after something he did earlier in the story (trying to avoid spoilers). Maybe it’ll be explained later, but at the moment it feels a little strange. That said, I still really like the drama. The chemistry between the leads is fantastic, and the premise is genuinely interesting. I’m definitely going to finish it. I just think the pacing starts to work against it after the first third of the series. Just my opinion! I’m curious what everyone else thought. Did anyone else feel this way, or am I alone on this one?

Okay, I know this sounds dramatic, but yesterday I had one of those moments where reality felt like it glitched for a second. I was riding the bus, just minding my business, looking out the window, and then I saw this guy walking outside who looked so much like Adrien that I genuinely had to do a double take. He had the exact kind of blonde hair like not just regular blonde, but that very specific Adrien type blonde. He was wearing a white shirt and blue pants too, literally almost the whole outfit, just without the jacket. For a second it genuinely felt like he had escaped from the story and was just casually walking around in real life. I wish I could’ve taken a picture from the back, but I couldn’t, so now I just have to live with the knowledge that I may have witnessed a fictional character crossing dimensions on a random bus ride. I’ll add a picture for reference because it was actually insane how much he looked like him.
