Any other AUS psychology students struggling with assignment structure?

For context, I’m a first year psych undergraduate student at Deakin university, so I have no idea if this struggle continues into 2nd and 3rd year, or if it’s the same at other universities. But I have found myself struggling immensely with the structure of all my classes assignments.
Every single one of my assignments is worth 30-50% of my grade, it’s making me terribly stressed and demotivated at learning. I even have assignments worth 50% of my grade due on exam days that are also 50% of my grade!

I used to feel like learning and receiving constructive criticism was my favourite part of studying, however, every bad/subpar grade feels like a major threat to my academic existence (a bare pass on an assignment worth 50% of my total grade feels incredibly unnerving). I’m less concerned about “how can I improve?” and rather “how can I even pass??”. On top of that, I’ve been receiving grades and feedback a week, or even just a day, before my next assignment submission date — giving me little to no time to digest the feedback and properly implement it. Each class only has 2-3 assignments per semester, leaving me with no way to regularly receive feedback and improve myself. Teachers are little to no help, and whilst they give out optional tasks for feedback, I have no time to complete them!! I’m swamped trying to read the minds of the assessors so I don’t fail my classes every week!

Is anyone else struggling or is it just me? How do I cope with this?? Is the assignment weighting more spread out in later semesters or years, or is it largely the same? Should I consider transferring to another uni??
