Some hostas in my mom’s garden

Just some hostas I’ve been growing in my mom’s garden over the past several years.

Any idea what happened to my dailies?

I usually blame deer or rabbits, but these are surrounded by hostas. It’s just in one area of the property, along the driveway and a row of hostas separating the dailies from the driveway. Any thoughts about who/ what is responsible?

Came to visit parents for the holidays to help with their neglected garden, was told by my mother I was going to die because of what I eat.

Like the title says, I decided to visit my parents for the holidays to help and address the huge neglected garden. My mother started tearing into my food choices, which is a mostly vegan plant based diet. No junk food. I asked whether the bread had any eggs in it. She decided she wanted to “teach” me about “proper nutrition” and share information “they” are hiding from regular people like me. I was really exhausted from gardening all day in the heat, so I politely said that she should just eat what works for her, and I’ll eat what works for me, and that I wasn’t really interested in hearing about “nutrition information” that is being “hidden” from me.

She accused me of hinting that she’s brainwashed (I didn’t, only that I was happy with how/ what I eat). She claimed that what I learned about nutrition was all wrong, because the doctors would never tell me the truth (doctors have no issues with what I eat), and that I never had the resources to learn about “proper nutrition”. She said that a reasonable person would want to hear information that may contradict what they know. When I asked her to just leave it alone, she replied “That’s not you talking, that’s your frustration talking”.

I asked her to just leave the subject alone, and she shouted that she’s going to end up “burring me” because I’m going to die soon.

I’m F, 40 yrs old. No major health issues (just garden variety depression). Not overweight (5’10 and 130 lbs). But actually to my mother, I’m going to die soon because of my food choices.

I’m stuck here for the next 5 days. Hope everyone else is having a much less stressful holiday weekend.

Help! Eaten hostas!

Looks like deer (or rabbits) had a feast in my mom’s garden. Any advice on how to keep them alive? We currently have a heatwave in Minnesota, so I’m hesitant to use fertilizer.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What’s wrong with my oak tree?

I have a very old oak tree. Does anyone know what’s wrong with it and what the prognosis is?
