How does the community really play their osr rpgs

Edit: Thank you all very much for your detailed answers. I got a lot of insight how a lot of you play or dm their games.

Here are some stats:

Seems like a lot of you are DMs and fewer are players.

Games often played: OSE, Shadowdark, Dolmenwood, DCC, Worlds without Number, B/X,

Party size: Seems to be about 3 to 7 players average.

Combat Encounters seem to be between 1 and 5 but some of you really love combat and it is a fun part of the game for them, not a fail state.

Classes: very diverse if classes are used. Also often a lot of magic-users or classes that can use magic. Fighter is also very liked.

Exploration and Resource Mangement are very important for a lot of you in your games.

Combat as Fail state Statement: Most of you find it overblown or haver very differgent opinions about it.

Magic User Usefulness: Allmost all of you find them useful, in combat and outside of combat

Some of you also find that some of the statements come from a blogification or idializing some aspects of OLD SCHOOL RPGs, but that they are not true as the game is/was played different actually.

Original Post:

Hi, after some of the recent threads (regarding the usefulness of Magic-Users at low level), or asking for how to start the game etc. Shadowdark vs X or OSE is better than etc.

I got the impression that a lot of people here often give the same responses to questions asked.

Combat as War not as Sport

Combat is a Fail State

Magic-User is not useless, because he can throw daggers

Oldschool is about resource management und exploring

etc.

I want to get a better understanding how the osr community is playing there games and if they share or oppose some of the most common answers. The above stuff is not every common answer but is in my opinion often repeated here. You can find my questions below, if you have time. Thanks in advance for taking the time for answering.

I am interested in how many of you, do actively play in games or as a DM / GM ?

Which system is your group actively playing?

How many players do you have, what classes are played?

How often do you have combat encounters?

How important is resource management and exploration in your games?

Do you find some of the above Statements true/false and if so why?

What other Statements do you find are often repeated here in the community?

Hi, here is my Beginner Dungeon and small Region for the upcoming White Box Dungeon Adventures.

I made the Dungeon with help of Sword and Wizardry Whitebox Rules from Mythmere Games, White Box Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game and a bit of Scarlet Heroes RPG.

It's very basic and a lot of rooms are empty, but it is rolled up all by the rules of dungeon creation in Whitebox Rules. 2 in 6 Chance for a Monster, which has a 50% Chance to have treasure. If no monster is present a 1 in 6 Chance for hidden treasure and a 20% Chance for a Trap on lvl 1.

The region is named the horror hills and it's inspired by b5 horror on the hill.

Next up is the mega dungeon from dyson logos. This will take longer to to roll all the rooms etc.
