Appearance of one character instead of another

I'm just after a re-listening of the entire series so far, and something bugged me with the Livesuit-Faith of Beasts connection: Why Corval, and not Kirin?

Kirin is the main protagonist from Livesuit. We get to hear his story and motivations, and figure out the tragic reality of the livesuits from his perspective.

Corval, while important, is a side character, and when I got to the part where he appears in TFOB I didn't even register his name as someone significant. It completely passed over my head until I've read about him here in reddit. Why does he appear in the second book and not Kirin?

Corval part of the story in TFOB could have been easily transferred to Kirin, with much deeper impact. Regardless if Kirins brain is there or not we would get a conclusion for his story, knowing that he got to save few more lives to the very end just like he wanted.

Unless Kirins' story is not over, and he's going to appear in the next book to kick some Carryxs' ass - ill be a bit disappointed.

Titan plot felt half-baked

Finished watching season 5 last week. While I did enjoy it, looking back some things just felt half-assed regarding the Titan plot and this season story in general.

First: The focus of the season should've been approaching Titan and expanding to the rest of the solar system. Instead, we get the "Mars colony is getting pushed aside to be decommissioned, the people fight back" plot which is recycled from last season - this time instead of snatching the asteroid from Mars its about automating Mars. I get it, Mars is to become independent. but running the same plot point twice two seasons in a row felt redundant.

Second: The journey and risks regarding Titan felt stupid. We have a space race, again. Its versus the Russian faction, which again are low-key evil and always cut corners and steal research. This results in catastrophic failure, why? Because they didn't have enough propellant for their *magical fusion engines*, and Helios did the same fucking mistake. What the fuck. What is the meaning of not bringing enough propellant with thier level of technology, especially when the stakes are landing on a new planet or dying.

The entire thing could've been been written without the overplayed space race and without the stupid and rushed engineering oversights. The journey could still be interesting and dangerous because of the human tensions, the unforseen and unknown. The electronic-eating bacteria is good example of that.

Rant over. Let me hear your thoughts.
