FLStudio on Linux, their latest release issue.

If you install the latest version of FLStudio it will not run. WINE complains about the certificate. You have to uninstall FLStudio using “wine uninstaller” in Konsole. Remove all FL products you see. When complete close the WINE window. Go to dolphin and show hidden folders. Go into the “.wine” folder and search for anything called Image-line and delete them all. Go to the FL Studio forums and make an account if you don’t have one and download the release before this new one. It is called flstudio_win64_26.1.0.5530_ONLINE.exe. This one works. What happened is that Image-Line updated the certificates and WINE is not happy. We Linux users must report it to the WINE folks and wait for an update. I will post the .EXE file in my Google Drive if you want to get it there. My version of WINE is 11.15. Tested in Arch & Fedora.

Trimming the fat

Yes at first I did have some problems installing Fedora and ran into some other issues once installed. I had came from CachyOS so I made post about going back to CachyOS. Well after the recent events with the AUR and realizing that Fedora is just as good if not more stable I decided to try again. This time I tried the “everything” installer which is better IMO. I prefer bleeding/leading edge so I narrowed my search to either Arch or Fedora. I did compare the ram usage of a fresh install of both CachyOS and Fedora. Yes Fedora is a little more heavy. CachyOS uses 1.5GB of ram while Fedora is using 2.1GB. The main thing people should know is that ram is meant to be used. That is what it’s for, to be used. I did come across a post that may help some users trim Fedora down a little bit. I am able to get Fedora down to match CachyOS by removing some apps that are installed by default and I personally would never use. Please review what apps are being removed before going willy nilly.

#Fedora cleanup
sudo dnf remove abrt
sudo dnf remove setroubleshoot
sudo dnf group remove kde-pim
sudo dnf group remove dial-up
sudo dnf remove kio-gdrive
sudo dnf remove xwaylandvideobridge
sudo dnf remove kde-connect
sudo dnf remove kmail
sudo dnf remove krdc
sudo dnf remove krdp
sudo dnf autoremove

Then reboot.

Raspberry Pi microSD

Hello all. I have 4 Raspberry Pi’s and are there any compatible cards with these specs or should I just buy these instead. I can’t seem to find many sdcards on Amazon that offer similar specs these claim to have for Raspberry Pi’s. Is this marketing hype? I understand that I can just purchase an SSD hat but that’s even more expensive in today’s market.

Back to CachyOS btw

I’ve been giving Fedora a run on 2 computers for a week unsuccessfully. Each PC has either crashed into rescue mode or given some strange grub error after an update. My gaming rig is a current gen, all AMD with a Ryzen 9 cpu. Immediately after the install there was an update that broke grub. My laptop which is a 2 year old intel HP had been running Fedora for only 6 days until just now. It just crashed with this error after another new kernel update. Fedora is nice but I have never had this many problems after a normal update.
