[TOMT] [Book] ~Spooky~ YA book from 2007-2010
I remember reading this the summer of 2009. I believe the cover was green/dark (maybe like night vision-esque?). I read a paperback version.
Plot was basically a group of teens sneak in and stay at a haunted asylum/hospital over night. Maybe on a date, maybe on a teenage whim, maybe recording for a video series (ghost hunting was a big thing in reality tv around then).
Spookiness and danger ensue. There was a very YA, g/pg-rated love story between a boy and girl. Vaguely remember something about a haunted or creepy doll that may have belonged to one of the asylum’s patients. I think it had a relatively happy ending — they maybe help some of the souls get to rest and uncover some of the horrible things that happened at the hospital?
Likely American but could have been British. I read mostly female YA authors at the time and devoured the new releases shelf at B&N, so would assume it probably was released 2008ish
