Since i see a lot of juniors asking about how to get admission, what does and does not matter, I thought to make guidance post

What matters(priority-wise):

1. O levels

2. SAT

3. A levels(AS/A1 Internals)

4. EC's and P.S

Straight A's in O levels is always preferred over a student with some B's and a better SAT

for SAT, if your O lvls is good, you need just a 1400+ for SSE, if its not that good, then ofc the higher the SAT, the better the chances

A1 internals/AS matters, and then ofc you need a min of BBC, so I'd say A levels is still above EC's and P.S

EC's and P.S only matter if your grades and SAT are not good enough and that too will only get you accepted earlier, its not the deciding factor in most cases

Having said that with recent increase in students applying its always better to write a good p.s for which if you go to a college ask your counselor to guide you and if you dont use AI + youtube and PLEASE DONT WRITE A GENERIC ESSAY about your achievements, tell your life's story

A good guide my teacher gave me is start from a tragedy(of your childhood, can be financial/health crisis) then tell how you overcame it and then talk about how lums will help you succeed, make it sound personal, add references to professors and their research work

For ec's if you dont wanna put in work or you're too poor to afford many, its very easy to make small things sound huge, maybe help out your teacher at school get certificate for that kind of stuff or make up an ngo(just a page on insta) and say that you started this ngo blah blah blah

If you have an uncle with successful companies that do hire interns, do a little work there(or no work) and get a certificate

The thing is you ABSOLUTELY DON'T need any private/paid counseling or help

Just put in a little work, Pray to Allah (S.W.T) and InShaAllah you'll make it

Plus even if you dont trust me, it's LUMS not Harvard!!

This is a guide based on my personal experience ofc there can be unique rare situations that dont follow my priority list

Seeing all these negative posts about lums is worrying me

Specially because my family is coming under great financial stress with this fee

For some reason lums didnt think that i deserve FA khair ive made my peace with it

But seeing that the university isnt worth it is genuinely scaring the shit out of me

Sooo i wanna know what can we actually do? Can we sign a petition or protest once uni starts i mean how can we fix these issues furthermore shouldnt we pressurize this "NOT FOR PROFIT" university to be a bit more transparent about how they utilize the fee they take from students....

Why didn't he include Montreal in the France Tour

Makes me think he won't include anything more from Kissland during Asia Tour either

For runoff and a few other problems, everyone uses distribution code(at least all the youtube people did) and i did too but it felt like i cheated because i didnt actually write the entire thing i only wrote the small functions

So are we supposed to use that, or is it just for help, and we should try to write the whole thing on our own first?

And is going drive either from near or through Valencia Town Lahore hmu

Can any senior confirm whether these resources are any good for getting a head start on SSE first year syllabus

You first upload the signed conditional(that we recieved when we recieved our acceptance package) upload paid chalan receipt and then theres another thing "signed offer letter returned" whats that?

I've just recently started the cs50 course

Can anyone who has completed it have further worked in cs tell me how exactly can one use this best and how to practice. Moreover, after doing cs50, what should you do?

And how long is the journey from completing cs50 to actually working in the market(target is to make a couple hundred dollars per month)

So, if you apply for reconsideration of financial aid, your previous fee chalan that you recieved after your financial aid decision is automatically cancelled right? And a new one is generated so meanwhile you dont have to sign any conditionals or do anything right?

Asking because lums doesnt reply properly

For cs, if someone were to choose between lums and fast, which is the better option?

Paying lums fee would be difficult but i talked to a very sucessful IT company owner who hires new cs graduates on a daily basis and he said that a degree from lums is absolutely worth it

And he said that the difference between a lums and fast graduate is very big

He also said that all foreign big companies prefer LUMS over FAST and since i do want to either go abroad or work with them

Is the fee difference justified and is the risk worth it?

I got offered 0% financial aid from lums

I cant think of any way of paying this fee

Are there any loan options or stuff that one can apply for?

I will be applying to IBCC for equivalence O levels but how can i tell my A level marks?

Can anyone who has applied recently tell me that i just have to select the british option then 8 subjects then i have to upload my cnic with educational certificate and thats it?

No need to enter my grades? And it only shows islamabad as the centre, i live in lahore and am applying through the online submission thing
