Am I gonna give myself a moisture problem?
Planned insulation scheme that will go along the whole roof
This is what the roof is shaped like
The insulation currently in this 2f bedroom is weird old shit labeled as balsam wool that comes in sealed tar paper batting bags. R-value is not listed but definitely low. Headroom is at a premium so I don't want to give much up but I've got to do something. No mold problems since it was installed in the sixties, but I don't know if this plan will make it worse. Is the foam board plan I've got here a bad idea? I'm in climate zone 5, bordering zone 6. I've got a long history of residential construction but don't actually know much about insulation and moisture, so thank you for any insight.
I'm also curious if there's a better way to pack more R-value into the roof without resorting to spray foam. I'm thinking about adding foam board to the outside some day when it's time to replace the roof too, but that's not in today's scope.
