OM5 M2 w/PL9 @f8, 1/1000th.
Still in the initial phase of appreciating the PL9mm lens. Compact, fast, and has decent flare when called upon. I have on occasion, had the dreaded “purple blob” when shooting into the sun, but life is always filled with small challenges.
I haven’t had the camera long, but I was able to take it up for a fly fishing competition this past week. I purchased the body in 14-150 kit, and added a PL 9 f1.7. I plan on adding the 12-40 Pro has soon as I can afford it. But, overall, I enjoyed shooting with it. All images were RAW, processed in Lightroom Mobile, and in subjective styles that I like.
And the storms came rolling in. OM 5.2 14-150 kit lens. Shot in RAW and processed on the phone in LR.
Not gonna lie. I love landscape photography. I enjoy the isolation, the time to think about the shot, the light, the composition. And mostly, to be away from people.
Conversely, I’ve always deeply admired street and urban photography. The edginess, the energy, the ability to create mood from chaos, and to find intimate threads in a larger fabric.. These are not skills in my wheelhouse.
But with a new OM5.2, I’m going to try. It’s such a fun system (even with the larger 14-150) I feel almost an obligation to have it on me at all times. Anyway, first effort focusing on people today.. BTW, it feels a little voyeuristic. Is this something you get used to?

I sold off my Sony full frame gear when my camera body took a dump. I figured it was an opportune time to look at other options as I was never quite comfortable with their user interface, and the weight was killing me on my adventures.
Upon diving deep into internet research, I quickly zeroed in on the OM-3 and OM-5.2. The size & weight, the weather sealing, and the very cool CP functions had me intrigued. And since I occasionally enjoy a good Milky Way shot, the Starry AF sounded like an amazing tool for my tired ass eyes…
After physically holding the two systems, it was apparent for me me that the OM-5.2 was more than adequate for my needs. The upgrades on the OM-3 were really, really nice, but it came down to how the camera felt in the hand.
Got out this morning to try it out. I have to say that for an “entry” level system and a kit lens, I’m more than pleased with the purchase. Very intuitive system, the kit lens performed bette than I thought in low light, and on the hike out, I almost forgot I had the camera as it’s so light. 😂
I’m really looking forward to adding a couple of wider, faster lenses, and exploring this camera’s abilities.

Mounting tubeless by hand has to be one the bigger lies told in the industry… I’ve been in literal life and death struggles that were easier than putting on some new Vittoria’s today. And that’s after letting them warm plenty in the New Mexico sun. Even snapped a Pedro’s.. 👀
Thankfully, the icy cold craft beer my hand is wrapped around is helping with the swelling in the hands…. Happy Weekend everyone!
Anyone with real world experience on this lens? I’m assuming it’s reasonably sharp, but I’m wondering if the CP features like hi res, ND, live composite, and night vision work with it?
I occasionally like to dabble with Milkyway and night sky photography, and this seems like a decent budget option.

I’ve sold off my Sony A7iii gear. The board on it fried and I didn’t feel like repairing it for what was a marginal relationship at best. Plus, I got tired of lugging all that heavy gear on backcountry adventures.
Pretty much all my photography is limited to social media (fly fishing related) and I haven’t printed in well over a decade. That being said, I’m real intrigued by the OM-5 Mark II- light weight, some pretty sweet features, and weather sealed? At an affordable price? Yes please!
Anyway, looking for real world user feedback before I pull the trigger. I’ve seen enough videos and reviews from people testing a loaner, but would like to hear from those who pulled the trigger and have some time on the camera- good and bad.
Many years ago, my first multi lens digital camera was a PEN E-P1. Everything about it was amazing except the image quality. But that was 16-17 years ago. I’m sure the technology has made the sensor size way less an issue by now. Thanks and photo of the adventure sled to satisfy the attachment requirement.
38km in the dirt, 17km on the pavement ride home- and all before 9am (because our sun in New Mexico don’t mess around). Training up for The Rad in Sept.
I’m thinking about riding The Rad in Trinidad CO in September. Probably the 40, or if all goes well, the 70. I’m not trying to place- just finish with enough left in the tank to enjoy the camaraderie at the finish.
Any suggestions on training up as far as weekly hours/miles, tire selection, etc? I have a Mondraker Arid Carbon R and can take up to 50’s.
I’m 60, have raced MTBXC Cat 2 a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and have not done more than 40 on gravel/road rides as of late. Looking for general advice, with extra love for those who’ve done the Rad. Thanks!
