I don’t post on social media often, but I finally put together my first official devlog for my solo MMORPG. What do you think of the progress and look?

I've shared a few pieces of my project here in the past, but showing my work online is still pretty rare for me. Today is a huge milestone for me, though. I finally sat down and put together my very first official devlog for my dark fantasy MMORPG, Parasorm.

In the video, I’m doing a deep dive into our core Entity System architecture. But since I'm usually staring at engine grids all day, I really want to get some fresh eyes on the game itself.

Building a Rust + Godot MMORPG Framework from scratch

Hey everyone!

I’ve recently started working on my dream project: a classic-inspired MMORPG. Initially, I wanted to keep quiet about it, but development is moving incredibly fast right now and I am ready to go all-in. My goal is to build a complete MMO experience featuring everything we love about the genre raids, dungeons, PvP, PvE, and an immersive world.

The Tech & Systems So Far:

Backend: A custom, high-performance Rust-based dedicated server. (0 Server Crashes so far, bugs appear but they are not deadly.)

Visuals: A 3D skybox that dynamically changes based on zone transitions and Server Time, supporting a unique art style.

Combat: A hybrid Tab-Targeting system with built-in capability for action combat and skillshots.

Dynamic Spells: A highly flexible spell system for both players and NPCs, allowing for endless customization.

Node-Based Tools: Custom-built node editors for NPC combat rotations, intricate branching dialogues, and complex quest design.

World Tools: Client-side server edits, entity spawners, and patrol path routing.

World & UI: A map system designed for seamless dungeon/raid instancing, alongside a Diablo-style grid inventory UnitFrames with Buff and Debuff Tracking, working MiniMap.

What’s Next on the Roadmap: Before diving into the next major features, my absolute priority is game feel tuning the movement, responsiveness, and combat flow until it feels perfect. Once that baseline is rock-solid, I will be implementing:

World Partitioning: A grid system to handle a massive open world split seamlessly into different .tscn scenes.

Progression: Deep Stat, Skill, and Power Progression systems.

Customization: Visual armor on characters and a dedicated weapon customization feature.

Social & Sandbox: Professions, vehicles, and robust social systems (Guilds, Trading, World PvP).

Encounter Design: Advanced Raid Boss mechanics using a dedicated Entity AoE system.

The Long-Term Plan: Once the core framework is completely stable and thoroughly tested, I plan to release the Godot MMO Framework to the public so other developers can build their own worlds.

A Note on My Workflow & Collaboration: As a solo developer handling a project this massive, I am making heavy use of AI tools to act as my extended team. I leverage AI extensively to help generate the Rust server code, assist with modeling, placeholder texturing, music prototyping, and video production. It allows me to bring my concepts to life at an incredible speed.

However, AI definitely has its limits. I am still directing the entire project and handling all the manual systems integration, world-building, quest writing, itemization, animations, and spell visuals myself. Because building an MMO is a monumental task, I would love to connect with other passion-driven devs. If you're an artist or designer interested in collaborating on custom assets, let's talk!

Right now, I am starting completely from zero fans.
