Staying on your locked screen, Shimmering in the glass sheen, I’m your only queen Every step onto the scene, You keep our love clean. I’ll always be keen, You’re the only one I’ve seen.

Everything I say, I mean. On full blast, never between Even on days I don’t read what it means. Stars in our eyes, pristine, Blooms in our smiles, evergreen.

Soft waves, you’re my serene An adventure, far from routine. Never where shadows lean. At the forefront, never unseen. You’re everything I’ve dreamed My constant, steady, in-between.

Here comes Mr. Swanky, Quite tall and lanky, Pizza in the back of a limo, He’s the master of limbo.

Feet up on the dash, Cookies in his stash, He just might smash his burger, No need to look further.

He’s the whole package, Brimming with swagger, As he’s the french fry king, Late night snack attack.

Hide your ice cream, Hide your cookies, But no need to hide that giggle. He’ll dance and wiggle Into your heart.

Coolest treat in the land Initials traced in the sand, Sweet milkshake smile, He’ll glide across the tiles To deliver snazzy puns, Snacking cinnamon buns.

Groove stitched in his heart, Mr. Swanky keeps humming along, His words a work of art, Dancing his way to your cart.

Let’s get one thing straight I left it all on the table To protect you and me.

You won’t read these words, Won’t hear their echo. My syllables roll and tumble, As I cast them into the waves.

I watch to see whether my bay Touches your unfinished thoughts, Pulling us together one last time.

I threw bitter tears at the ocean, But all that came back was the tide.

Still, My heart remembers How gently You held my scars.

Your salty sea Breathing life into me Even as it cut into me.

Listen, do you hear the growls? They’re growing louder by the second, Grumbles rumbling through the howls. Shall we take a look? What do you reckon? We haven’t a moment to waste, not a nanosecond!

Not too fast, we mustn’t be spotted, Our hearts in fear, our tongues all knotted, The air hangs with haze and dread, While shadows dart on the path ahead.

Back away slowly before we are seen, Claws coming out onto the scene. Wait a minute, it’s just Mr. Smittenkittens! Careful still…we don’t want to get bitten.

He’s only here for a bite to eat, Searching for a morsel, a little treat.

Tumble dry on low, Each shirt dancing, A skip, a hop, Did someone Turn on the heat?

Time to fold. Not everyone Has a laundry fairy.

Numbers or socks missed, Not paired, Maybe it’s unique? An eccentric quirk.

One went for a loop, Down into hills of misfits. Oh, glory to the story.

Clothes find a way To wrinkle or dash, Independent cloth.

I bid you aid: Shine where you are. You’re missed, never forgotten.

My feet need cover, And there you are not.

Search high and low, The sock gnomes Strike again.

I’m buck wild, Anything but mild. I’ll keep you on your toes When the tension grows, Yeah, I mean feelings, silly.

I’ll keep you hot and bothered Leave your breath ragged, faltered. Can you think straight? Go on, take the bait.

Eat out of my hands, Or from my lap, just as planned.

You say you’re in control, Still waiting on command.

Think you’ve won me over? Come closer…try again.

Did you hear in the hush? Her heart is in a rush. She has a cosmic crush. Stardust in every blush.

A constellation of giggles Drawing smiles into squiggles. A case of the wiggles, As feelings start to wriggle.

She won’t confess, that’s not the game. Her heart was never quite the same, Not with the stars spelling his name, The moonlight glow that fed the flame.

So come in closer, darling, I’ll be your little starling.

Floating on open water, Nothing but clear skies, Sunlight spilling down, My eyes grow heavy, And I drift.

Thunderous storm clouds gather above, Lightning cracks overhead, Shredding the boat beneath, Plank by plank As splinters wash away.

My head bobs up and down, Salt water burning every breath. My heart quickens. My clothes growing heavy, Stick to my skin, Pulling me under as the waves Fill my lungs.

Falling backwards, I cling to a piece of driftwood. Peering in every direction, No land in sight.

A quiet saudade fills my chest For shores I cannot see, For sand I cannot feel, For a breeze to soothe me Where the shore meets the sea.

These words aren’t for you. You don’t know my face, You don’t know my story Yet you tore my world apart, Effacing my worth.

You only get the words I spoke, One statement, Spoken as a victim Each breath delivered In a courtroom of silence, But it wasn’t for you. It was to reclaim my peace.

I refuse to stay a victim I survived your aftermath Even if I had to claw my way out.

These tears aren’t for you. I don’t shudder at your name I don’t try to understand why. I know there are no answers.

Hands shaking, she grasps her sword, Steel screeching in the fog, Parrying attacks from every side, Each strike eroding her will.

Scratched, she skims the opalescent skies, Feathers torn and twisted, Wings worn thin in the howling wind, She stumbles to the ground.

The fractured sky above her stretches, Threatening to swallow her whole, Her light flickers, then dims within her chest, A stubborn glow clinging still.

Valkyrie of heaven or of hell? The hymns still breathe her name Braided in oath and burning valor, A legacy woven in flame.

With fading light to guide her path, Cloaked in a zephyr’s soft warmth, She rises slowly to her feet, Drenched in exhaustion.

Drawing her final breath, She charges against the storm, A whirling clash of thunder, Splitting the skies and shattering might, Changing even fate’s decree.

Snapping a moment with you, I’m immersed in panoramic mode, Engulfed in the clarity of your lines, Every edge of your smile widened, Every detail sharpened.

Drown me in your colors, Blur me into your background.

Nothing escapes the frame, Not the way your eyes shimmer, Like waves in golden light, The way you hold me close, Fingertips smoothing the wrinkles From a blouse, Held in a zephyr embrace Under the opalescent canopy.

Even this snapshot Can’t keep us still.

Each line written into my bones Each stroke, cutting deep into my core, Burn me slowly as you think, I won’t look away. I won’t blink.

You ask me to name my fate, As if I chose this fragile state. Heart tangled, I’m not taking the bait, Still at the edge, you linger and wait, I’m bound to slip up.

With each step, you linger near, Refusing to be anything clear, Pulling me back when I dare to hide, Wiping my mind.

You claim me, Yanking me under until I’m gasping.

You refuse to be bested, Your waves unrelenting As they wash over my breath, Until I go still, Forgetting my name.

But every drop of you holds no weight, I was not a blank slate, I was not bound, not your mate, I shed you piece by piece, Deadweight.

The screen quietly smirks It can be quite a jerk, When the words just won’t come Keeping my mood glum.

The cursor taps and blinks Waiting for me to conduct Some grand symphony of thought, But nothing flows.

Mind and hand take to ink Wondering what I can link Thoughts rush in, zip they’re gone. Was I a writer, or just a con?

Where did it go? Why did things slow? Heart caged, not for show, What do I even know?

Words come back, This feels like an attack, I thought we were close, Why did the screen freeze?

Right on the tip of my mind, Won’t you, for once, be kind? Frustration floods every line, I’m hunting for any signs.

Just give me one single word, Anything clear to be heard…

Table set for two Across from me, a shell of you. Lights dimmed to set the mood, Shining only on the utensils, Sharp enough to cut through our ties.

Nesting in the umbrage of doubt. I peer apprehensively, Glancing askance behind guarded eyes, Waiting to see who shows up.

We shift in the silence. The candle casts no shadow, But are the reason they exist.

Do you see the scars you left?

Lay me out in front of you Each ache ringing true As you mold me with your lips, I’ll fold beneath your fingertips.

Every trace Where your mouth has been Sparks, electric my body talks. Every nerve unlocks. Sensitive buds awakened, By your spoken word.

Each touch, my skin sings From each burn your flame brings, Mark me for all to see.

Smooth me over like braille, Each line becomes our own tale, Don’t worry I’m not frail, I’ll never wail, Unless you want me to.

Want you to, no I need you to, When you reach your boiling point Steam rising I won’t hold back Unless it’s your hair in my hand Gently reminding you you’re mine I’ll also feel it in my spine.

Your nails to skin Your name spelled I’m yours to infinity, Otherwise angels will weep The separation of heavenly connection, deep.

Caress my lines until we sync in time, Get lost in my stanza, tease my rhymes, Meld our thoughts as we’re braided, The meter of our breaths never faded, Until our threads cross one another.

Tighten the rhythm between each beat, Draw every pause into something we meet, Our cadence pulling, slipping, then aligning, A refrain of tension, softly intertwining, Not quite yours, not wholly mine.

The way our hush begins to weave, Even silence bends to believe In a harmony shaped between us.

I love you. I love you not. I twist the flower stems into knots, Weave them slowly into a crown, One petal slips and drifts back down.

A bouquet of blooms surrounds me, Blurring all I strain to see, Fingers green with passing time, Ghostly whispers fade through chimes, Until all that’s left is hush.

I place the crown beside your stone, And whisper: I love you.
