I saw a short on Youtube with a discussion piece on whether Barzini or Roth was more cunning as a villain and thought it was a very interesting discussion.

With Barzini, he essentially hides his power level and uses proxies against Vito in the first instance. Its only after the peace meeting that he plays his hand too hard and needs to be eliminated.

With Roth, its interesting that after the assassination attempt, Michael pegs immediately that Roth could have something to do with it but he also attempts to trap him with the Cuba scheme (although Michael is clever enough to have doubts after seeing the rebels). He also seems to swing it that he is untouchable with police protection at the end.

So my gut feeling is Roth with multiple plans but Barzini was so so close to getting his master plan to come together.

What do you think?

Ill start out with the obvious with the Vito storyline in The Sopranos and the fake serial killer in The Wire.

Ill also add in Barry going super religious in the last season of Barry (although the Looney Tunes style mob war makes up for that).

Started testing Slowking because of the new Metagross and I actually think the problem with the deck (I.e. not being able to hit too hard) has been solved by its inclusion.

Being able to hit 300 (or up to 330 with Brave Bangle) deals with a lot of relevant Pokemon right now and enables you to trade up into Megas (which is an insane prize swing). Couple that with the usual spread damage and the deck feels like its in the pre rotation Zoroark position. Meowth helps with consistency if you miss Turn 1 Lillie and Special Psychic is great for hunting out Lapras and Smoochum (I quite like one off to draw out Psychic Energy). Fez and Kanga also helps you draw very consistently.

I've dropped all techs and literally only playing Metagross and Kyurem now.

Obvious Shaymin is about to tech for it but honestly if can hit hard now its not horrendous!

I’m leaving a firm next month to join somewhere else which is fully remote and will FINALLY give me autonomy in a field I have worked in for 13 years and which I hold professional qualifications.

I don't think Ive worked anywhere to the extent to this guy micromanages a team (for context I am probably the LEAST experienced person in the team!). Everyone else is completely checked out.

What signs do you see of someone who is a micromanager? For me, they usually seem to be people who are a mixture of narcissist, incompetent and a whole lot of insecure. They are also the definition of “this meeting could have been an email”. I also find that typically if you have to technically teach them and discuss very area of what you do, rather than them going with it and adding their practical experience angle.

What things have you seen?

In the spirit of aiming for SLAs (which I think is a good thing), my boss put together a sort of internal meets targets contract.

The problem is, the form was blatantly put together via ChatGPT.

It mentions delegation (when we are a flat management structure with only an outsourcing overseas), 24 hour turnaround on emails without considering technical input, no reference on whether WIP recovery is based on all time on code v just chargeable time and expectation that WE have to deal with upwards bottlenecks (you know rather than senior team being responsible for it).

Im leaving soon anyways so for me, its not too big of a deal. But, if someone came in to replace me was given that then they would be livid. I think I will say “this document really needs amending” since it is utter garbage with targets abritrarily plucked out of the air (1.5k hours of chargeable time is ONLY being hit by someone who just does chargeable work only). Frankly the whole management team are not happy with this…
