Why are RTS fans so stingy and strange these days?
Yes this is gonna be a controversial and probably downvoted to hell post but.. I gotta get this out my chest. Dawn of War and Empire Earth are the first video games I ever played. I don’t dabble too much in the genre anymore, just play from time to time.
But everytime I see people comment on RTS games,it genuinely grinds my gears. It didn’t use to be like this back then
It all starts when I started playing age of empires 2 and 4 recently. I see people complaining about 15 dollar DLCs. Doesn’t matter how good it is. It’s like a crime it’s priced the same as a chipotle bowl and a drink these days. Other games release DLCs and people are excited for the extra content
Now with dawn of war 4, the most hyped RTS in a long while, you can blatantly see it.
I keep seeing people complaining about 60 dollar price tag. Yo genuinely wtf?? Games have been priced 60 dollars for a millennia now. Yall Empire Earth costed 50 bucks back in 2001. They are releasing 70 dollar games that take 12 hours to beat these days
And yet it’s “HUHH 60 DOLLAR PRICE TAG?! HOW CRIMINAL”. “ like it’s never happened before and it’s not already 10 percent off.
“AN ROADMAP?? HOW DARE THIS GAME GET CONTINUED SUPPORT, ITS EARLY ACCESS!” Yeah it’s a completed sp/mp game that gets additional content over the years.
Then you have the people already saying wait for 70 percent discount like DoW4 is some garbage recycled Ubisoft game before playing it
Btw, in case nobody knows. Steam has a refund policy, I promise you can use it if the game gets trash reviews within 14 days and below 2 hours. I did the same with DoW3.
It’s really like you guys don’t want any RTS game to be successful. The complaints and shock over normal things are so fast and swift in this community. It’s mind boggling
As a guy who grew up playing RTS and would like to see the genre revived. I’m weirded out by the constant ways people in this community find to kill the mood. Rant over.
