AITA for telling my friend to stop complaining about her love life
I (27M) was hanging out with a friend (26F) recently. During the conversation she repeatedly brought up how horny she was and how badly she wanted to have sex.
Personally, I found it a bit awkward and more information than I really wanted to know, especially since I’m a male friend and not her therapist or dating coach. However, I didn’t say anything at first and just listened.
After a while I got annoyed because it felt like she was repeatedly complaining about a problem that had an obvious solution. She’s very attractive and has no shortage of attention from men, so eventually I said something along the lines of, “Why don’t you just find a guy you think is hot and sleep with him?”
She replied that she had already found a guy she wanted. At that point I said something like, “Then why are you sitting here complaining to me instead of talking to him?” She got upset and felt I was being rude and dismissive.
From my perspective, I wasn’t trying to be mean. I genuinely didn’t understand why she was repeatedly complaining about something when she apparently already knew what she wanted and who she wanted it with. I also felt uncomfortable being put in the position of listening to detailed complaints about her sex drive when there was nothing I could realistically do about it.
