I have 79 non-Turbo 245 automatic. I recently picked up an m47 transmission with driveshaft and all other relevant mechanical bits for a swap. This is an eventual project, but I want to hear from anyone who has done this or had it done.
How feasible is it to do yourself with ramps in a driveway? What was the most difficult part and are there any guides you might recommend.
Finally finished some fun work on this custom bass trombone! This was a lot of time and design work, but it’s finally completed!
I made the linkages adjustable so I could tinker with the leverage. That took a reasonable amount of experimentation. I also needed to make all the levers pretty rigid so a small amount of brass flat bar helps to stop the primary arm from flexing.
You can still use and tune the F valve as if it were a standard single trigger bass.
Seems like I’ve found the short! I think some things were loose in the position sensor so cleaning, checking solders, and re-greasing should help.
Exterior shot cause it’s pretty haha.
Any input on what to do here or things I should look out for?
It’s a 3 speed automatic.
I had an issue today where when I started up this morning I saw a glow from beneath the shifter followed by some grey smoke and the smell of burnt electronics. The transmission also made some very unhappy sounds. Fluid levels are okay, and I don’t think anything is directly leaking onto the exhaust to cause smoke.
Anyone have a similar experience?
