Visible app vs Garmin

Visible Vs Garmin "Body Battery"

Has anyone used both the full-flavour Visible subscription and the Garmin Connect function of "Body Battery"?

Both are meant to give you an indication each morning of your available energy ("spoons") for the day, and to monitor your use of that energy throughout the day.

How do they compare in terms of functionality, tailoring to the individual, usability, usefulness, and accuracy?

What's your preferred moulding?

If you're a frame maker, do you have a preferred shape (cross section) for the frame moulding? For example is ogee the best?

If you frame your own artwork, do you use different styles of frame, according to the piece?

Leaking advice

TLDR: is it safe to use a leaking battery pack?

I have a 4Ah Li-Ion battery pack from a power tool which had been in a warehouse for a while before I bought it. When I unpacked it, I saw dark brown liquid that had come out of the battery pack. I cleaned it up, crossed my fingers, charged it and used it, with no problems so I figured it was just a transient issue due to some spillage, or perhaps high temperature in the warehouse.

However, when I got it out again a few months later, I saw more leakage. It still works and accepts charge, and holds it long enough to be useable. The only obvious issue is that the charge display (a row of LEDs indicating the remaining charge) does not register.

Is it possible that the leakage is from (say) some contamination, or potting compound that's denatured, rather than a leaking cell? And if one cell has failed and leaked is it possible that the internal arrangement means that the other cells can continue to work?

Is it safe to go on using it?

I have a Neet box which connects to WiFi, receives audio data over the network, decodes and provides analogue output to a mini stereo system.

I have previously used this setup, running Audio Station on my NAS in a browser window, and selecting the Neet box to receive the music following a playlist. I haven't done that for a little while, but today when I wanted to do it, Audio Station can no longer see / find the Neet box.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get the Neet visible again? I've verified that the Neet is connected to the WiFi network; I've opened up all the permissions in Audio Station; I've restarted the Neet and the NAS, but nothing has changed.

Any ideas?

A few days ago I posted three different frames I was comparing, for my kind of landscape paintings.

I sought opinions on them, and discussion of what other people do with their own paintings.

I chose this style and made it up to fit the canvas, and stained it. What's your verdict?

I was wondering what other people do about framing their work. I feel that making the frame is an additional part of the process that gives me pleasure in the hands-on construction. Does anyone else do this?

Up to now, I've generally made a simple floating frame, or a flush fitting frame nailed straight into the stretcher, but I really feel that in some cases, a more interesting frame might complete the work rather better.

I'm thinking really of a mitre-jointed frame made using "fancy" shaped wood, stained and varnished, without glass, and fitting as close as possible to the edge of the stretcher. I don't necessarily want to fit the stretcher into a rebate in the back of the frame, because I prefer the front of the canvas to be more or less level with the front edge of the frame; and this makes the whole thing slimmer (not sticking off the wall so much).

Does anyone use wood mouldings? What shapes (e.g. ogee, astragal, barrel) work best?

I knocked together some different ideas (not quite as carefully as I would for a final piece) as a trial. The first picture shows the three frames:

Number 1 is made just with stripwood. If I were doing this for real, in place of the outer rectangular section, I'd probably use a parting bead. In concept it's a bit like a floating frame, but with a much larger gap between the outer frame and the work.

Number 2 is made with an ogee moulding, on top of stripwood to achieve sufficient depth. The frame isn't a perfect fit to the stretcher but it could be improved - or made with a deliberate gap.

Number 3 is like No.2, but using a wide moulding (I think it's a torus).

The second picture shows how they look with a painting in.

So what do you do? And what do you like best? Have you done this sort of thing yourself, and are there any tips you'd pass on? I realise there are some proper framers in this sub, doing this professionally for customers - care to share any tips?

Three frame ideas I knocked up

Sorry about the bit of paper stuck to the corner of the middle frame!
