Let's Flesh each other's OCs out!: What Makes your OC the way they are right now?

Let's Flesh each other's OCs out!: What Makes your OC the way they are right now?

Basically, what thing(s) define your OC's personality and traits, why do they have certain personality traits? how do they interpret the world they live in? and why do they have different beliefs and values? These can be affected by who, when, where and how your OC is raised in their early life, it also can be encounters that affect and mold them to the character they are today.

For example, I'll talk about Git, and why Git is Himself. I wont include everything about him, so expect things to not make some sense, but I'll include a good chunk of his lore. I also have a TL:DR but it would be nice if you actually take some time and read his lore!

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Git the Gingerbread Cookie: Git Is a Kind, and Empathetic person, always there to comfort others and give them some snacks when they're down! But his flaw is that he's short tempered, he's pretty impatient and easily breaks under pressure, which means its hard for him to take critique from his friends, as he may see it as a personal attack. Why? Because of the things he went through in his early life.

Git was seen as just someone with a uncontrolled feral side instead of a person. His fellow gingerbread cookie kin saw him as a monster, because of the way he appeared and sometimes acted. However, that is not true, Git always had a passion for baking, and making people happy, but despite that, people stayed away from him. Yes, it's true he has a feral side that he has when pushed enough, but that is not who he fully is. Git slowly built resentment for his community, and one day, he lashed due to the incessive bullying and stigma. Now, people truly believe that he is the thing he swore he was not, so he ran away from his community out of fear, regret, and shame, believing that everyone is cruel and that he is a monster, so he acted like one for a while.

That is until someone found him and taken him into their orphanage. At first, he didn't trust the caretaker. As time went however, Git slowly softened to the caretaker and he felt cared for the first time. The caretaker taught Git many lessons, such as how to do chores, how to maintain his emotions even if under pressure, but Git always found that hard. But one thing that the caretaker told Git is something he would never forget: others shouldn't define who he is, and it is up to him to choose how he will pursue life. That made Git think about himself for the first time, so he followed what he had liked from the beginning; to be warm, caring and bake treats for others.

Now Git, sees the world as a balance of Good and Evil, and that he chooses to be good in his life despite the people in his early life being Rude. He is a realist, He's not too Cynical nor too naive, but he sees the potential for good in everyone, just like the caretaker saw the good in him.

TL:DR: Gingerbread cookie lizard who's nice and empathetic, but he is short tempered and finds some critique personal because of what he experienced in his past. In his past, people saw him as a monster not a person due to his looks and an uncontrolled feral side. This made him cynical for a short bit until a caretaker took care of him and showed him love he never properly had. The caretaker inspired him to be the person he is today; someone who thinks that people have the potential of good but has flaws that can be improved on.

I'll respond to comments as much as I can! And Expect me to ask questions about them so I can further flesh out your characters!

I'd like if you gave me some Feedback about Git, as this is a Community Interaction! So I expect it to be a mutual exchange of info and questions, but you don't have to post a paragraph on what you like about his lore, just 2-3 sentences are enough.

You can also criticize or ask questions about Git.

Need help with Lore development, plot holes + Seeking Criticism

Decided that I wanted to post here, so that I can get help for OC lore and ramble on about it! Plus I'm desperately seeking Criticism and I genuinely want to know if my Premise is solid and the stories I'll develop with it.

This is just a passion project, something I like to work on for fun and enjoyment, and I'm planning to make comics on the premise that I might publish on Webtoon.

Base Universe: Mythkion

I have this base world Called Mythkion It's a Urban fantasy world with many similarities to the real world, specifically the 2000's-2010's Era in terms of pop culture and they type of technology they have except there's magic, robots, and fantasy creatures and random wacky beings instead of humans or other generic fantasy races. Despite that, Mythkion has it's own unique cultures and history :D

The Christmas Council: Premise

I've build off many stories, premises and plots with this world, One of these plots is The Christmas Council

The Overall Premise is that it's a slice of life/sitcom and urban fantasy that focuses on an ensemble cast (the characters in the 1st picture excluding the goat guy at the bottom right) whose goal is to represent the Christmas Holiday and make people around Mythkion Festive and happy during the holidays every year. These people are known as the Council members, and they do this by going on tours, and hosting events in major cities and each member has a Specific role such as a baker, manager, decorator, caroler, etc.

However, the cast is very diverse in terms of personality and background, which can conflict with each other's goals and the common goal they're working towards every year of keeping the holiday spirit alive. The premise focuses on their shenanigans and adventures they get into and relationship drama they might have while they try to work towards a 'perfect Christmas' every year. I want the stories to revolve around how the different characters react to different situations during the holidays, just like the chaos we get into while trying to prepare for the holidays in real life.

I want them to be somewhat relatable, and the stories are not just experiences we go through during the holiday season but things we can apply to everyday life. It focuses on the character's growth, and how they stick together despite their differences and the chaos they go through. I also want some of the themes and morals to focus on the Morals that the holidays teach others, such as love, forgiveness, generosity, humility, joy, and the importance of giving over receiving

It also taps occasionally on high-tense character arcs and major plots, but mostly it's just slice of life, I'm also planning to write about their life and what they do to pass time when it's offseason.

Important Context

  • The origins of Christmas, in my Oc's world and it's etymology is very different compared to it's origins in real life. Which I won't get into because it's not finished, and it's something I haven't really worked on yet as my main focus right now is fleshing out the characters.
  • Keeping the Christmas spirit alive is something VERY VERY important to my Oc's world, not just something to keep people happy as something bad will happen if they don't, (I'm still working on what it is, as I'm still fleshing out the characters.

The Christmas Council: Characters

I won't list them, for the sake of keeping this concise, but if you have any questions about them, feel free to ask me!

Issues I have with the Plot

The Main issue I have with the Plot is the name of the Holiday; Christmas. Christmas is called Christmas in the real world because it's the Birth of Jesus, but this creates Many plotholes when trying to incorporate the word 'Christmas' into Mythkion without it sounding like a lazy shortcut to not make a new holiday based of Christmas on the spot. I want to keep the name the same as Mythkion has tons of parallels to the real world while still remaining as a unique fantasy world.

I can just change the etymology of the name and call it a day but I'm still figuring that out.

Side notes

There's more issues and stuff I can talk about, but that's overall the main things I have issues with.
