Seamless - Aggressive Invasion at beginning of the game

Hello everyone, me and my friends were trying to show the game to a friend that never played, as she felt discouraged trying it alone. We decided to keep invasions because they were part of the original experience, and it could be nice for her to try to duel later on in the game.

Only for this guy named "Ghillied Hitman" to suddenly appear and kill us all.
I assume this was a real person and not a new scripted event: he had endgame equipment, became immediately invisible and killed me and my friend as we couldn't see him. Then he started to run around and chase our friend trying the game for the first time, whom didn't know what to do.

Is this normal behavior nowadays in Seamless? I haven't played in some months, but this is very discouraging for keeping invasion on. If we keep playing next then we will for sure disable them, but it's really surprising to me why someone would behave so unfairly and just pick on newbies next to the camp where you first meet Melina. I don't see what's nice in curbstomping the equivalent of pups, where it's more a matter of 1-hit kill with all your equipment and stats rather than enjoying a show of skills.

Game Suggestion: Fausts Alptraum

Hello everyone, yesterday I finished a game called Fausts Alptraum, which has accompanied me in the many pasts days of scantily available time for myself.

To give a summary of it, it's a horror single player puzzle RPGMaker-like game created by LabORat Studio, an indie developer from Taiwan, based on the eponymous story "Faust". It's also free!

The game plays like most games akin to the same type of RPGMaker gameplay (Ib, Omori, The Witch's House and others). There are traps and clever puzzles that sometimes seem really difficult to overcome but are quite smart and satisfying to tackle, as well as small eerie moments of surprise and tension.

Both art and classical music adaptations used in the game are fantastic and well incorporated into the design, contributing to the overall eerie atmosphere of the game. Many choices are really fitting for a game set in a precise time of the past that sees Germanic culture and old fables incorporated in a very smart way in the story.

The introduction sees a young girl assisting at her father's funeral and inheriting a manor, entering inside of it, only to suddenly meet an unsettling figure named Mephistopheles; the game does a wonderful work of immersing you into this manor as it distorts and requires you to explore at a cautious pace, least you run out of light and become more and more crippled in your movements.
On that note, once you end the game and realize what was happening, this mechanic really fits also the overall true purpose of the demon.

The game isn't exempt from some fixes needed unfortunately.
For example you have to force Fullscreen with alt+enter (very intuitive for me but I saw some people not knowing of this key combination or struggling with making it work), and then you cannot use the normal shortcuts like F12 for screenshots, as it just resets the game (classic RPGMaker of old issues).
In addition, some minor fonts that are related to the puzzles appear just as a square [] and the provided fonts with the game don't always work, but a kind redditor provided a fix for that already.

Overall I'm genuinely grateful for having given this game a chance, wanting to do my best to help the protagonist and even tearing up at a certain point toward the end of the game. The writing is great and the depth of the story goes quite far, told not just throughout the gameplay and books, but also through the various diaries related to the different characters, which tell a much deeper story before the events of the game.

I plan to write a lore/story explanation, perhaps on Steam alone, perhaps also in the related subreddit (which doesn't see much activity), but I can't stress how nice the experience was, and I absolutely recommend everyone to check out this free game, which in my opinion deserves more recognition.

The only way to give money to the developers (since the game is free) is to buy the Digital Artbook.
The game also has a Japanese novel that tells the story of the game, but from what I could see it is sold only through Japanese stores, and not in English anywhere).
In my opinion the artbook is a very nice way to show support if you can afford it and want to thank the developers, whom appear to have made just this single free game and published it on Steam.

It's a small gem that shows attention to details, love for the classics and lots of care.
It made me feel like Yume Nikki, Witch's House and Omori made me feel at the time I played through each of them, accompanying me through different times in my life, and allowing to immerse myself into a story I was desirous of seeing through, fully enjoying the journey and becoming surprised and sometimes shocked once I realized how all the pieces fit together in the end.

Fans spinning 'uncontrollably' during game

Hello everyone, I tried the game some days ago and it was fantastic, so I started to play it more and have enjoyed how it's a mixture between Civilization and Crusader Kings of sort. Also nice to have various civilizations to choose from like Babylonia and Assyria and Carthage, going in-depth with their themes and heritages.

However I noticed that after a certain number of turns or civilizations are discovered, or sometimes even earlier than that when it's just me and one opponent, the fans appear to spin, stop, spin again, stop, without any input coming from me or any action happening on screen.

Not only that, but it's more than one fan: in Cyberpunk and other heavier games like Baldur's Gate 3 this happened with just one fan, and not immediately: the game needed to have been open for a bit before it happened. With Resident Evil 9 and Pragmata, if I didn't open the browser and just started the games, it might even not have happened for a long time.

Is there anything causing this error? I see from search that there are scattered posts here on reddit about GPU fans, CPU fans, Memory Leaks and other errors, between 6 to 2 years ago, and even some recent ones of some months ago. I'm wondering what is causing this specifically, as I never experienced it this way and it's very concerning (even if the fans are doing their work).

My specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Super (DX12)
MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC (MS-7B17)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB
Total Virtual Memory 49.2 GB
Page File Space 17.3 GB
Windows 10

Gonna try to clock down the power and see if that helps as it did for Cyberpunk.

Edit: found settings that appear to work for me below, along reducing the power from 100% to 80% with Alt+Z (for Nvidia Experience performance modification), posting them here in case it helps someone else with similar or better spects:

Preset: Custom
Display Mode: Borderless Windowed
Resolution: 1920x1080
Monitor: 0
Frame Limit: 60FPS
Rendering Quality: Medium
Building Quality: Medium
Terrain Quality: Medium
FOW Quality: Medium
Antialiasing: OFF
AO: ON
Bloom: ON
Vignette: ON
MB: OFF
DoF: ON
CC: ON
SSU: OFF
SSR: OFF
Reduced Framerate: OFF (but might be good to activate it if you alt-tab a lot)
PAI: ON

Lovely duel (and experience with the community)

Big thanks to this duelist that visited us in Seamless- Co-op yesterday, it was a fresh of breath air to be able to find someone that didn't focus just on kill, but rather on dueling in a sane, respectful way. Previously we had found invaders that just had impossible ways to fight or somehow fighted in a suspicious ways, would not even wait for us to disentangle from the monsters, and would even mock us while we were focusing on the story, but thankfully not as much as in ER Seamless Co-op. We fought a few times and I was really impressed by your parring and fighting skills, I really need to improve as I never focused on dueling beforehand.

Thank you very much for the nice experience Orochimaru, and thank you also to The Guide, the nice player that guided us inside the Profaned Flame multiple times in a row.
Really nice experience with the community in the past days.

Thematic runs/characters in Dark Souls 3

With Seamless Co-op and a few friends asking to play I've been having a bout of inspiration on what to do with different characters, as I wanted to make the game more varied since I will have to play it multiple times. So far I've created a decent roster of characters (some of which will be single player), and since I love thematic runs (they all risk becoming a Corvian Scythe runs haha), and I thought of sharing the current ideas I have and the future planned ones for suggestions, but would also like to know if anyone else has done anything similar!

The current characters (which as you can see I love to give the same hairstyle to) are the following so far:

Celica: Pyromancer with Chaos Corvian Scythe and Raw Astora Straight Sword buffed with Carthus Flame Arc (but might make that Chaos as well). The very first seamless character I created to try and make a sort of lost sister from Izalith character that possesses ability to use flame and chaos. She's also the only one with braided hair so far.

Luna: this was the first time I tried to rush the Moonlight Greatsword, as I just really wanted to try a mage with it (I had already a Frieren created as a mage in the normal DS3 save, with whom I sent the dragon in Lothric Castle away surprisingly enough). The dancer had given so many issues, but became a joke after finally caving in and deciding to go hollow and use the Dark Hand. Overall the Moonlight Greatsword does decent damage, and this run helped me farm titanite chunks as well in Lothric Castle to see how the weapons would fare once upgraded, but a Crystal Astora Sword+9 and Crystal Corvian Scythe+9 really do fantastic damage compared to the MG+1 so far. I plan to do the rest of the game since I just killed Dancer+Oceiros to rush the weapon. Used to assist friends that are stuck.

Filianore: Filianore (the NPC) is a fascinating character for me, and I felt really bad for her. I cannot recreate her properly, but decided to do a sort of avatar/link/faithful character that would go to the end of time and try to put an end to her suffering in a comforting way (snorting copium goes here). This will be a Faith character using spears as much as possible, going for Crucifix of the Mad King, not sure yet how best to level up, but I remember seeing a guide from another user which I might put to use. So far it's mainly used for a solo run and the End of Fire ending.

Yuria: This was supposed to be the third character with friends, but we ended up not playing as they dedicated to other newer games, so I put her on hold/solo testing. My original character was inspired by the Painter and had lots of hollowing with a bit of luck, so for Yuria I decided to use hollowing (of course) but also do a mainly Luck run. Not sure yet how that will work, but Bandit Knife and Flamberge have been carrying me beautifully.

Vespera: Freshly created because another friend wanted to play for the first time in Co-Op. I thought "hmm how can I vary now and be sure I complement another pyromancer?" and then got the idea to just use the spell-ish version of Raw: Fire and Deep. Vespera is a name that means "Evening Star", and symbolizes the transition between Day and Night, so I found her very fitting. She will use Fire Flamberge and Deep Mace, possibly switching to a Fire Great Mace later on. Currently wondering about adding a Raw Corvian Scythe as well.

Bianca/Alba/Ashen Planned: this is a planned character, I really feel bad for Priscilla and the Painter and Yorshka being confined, imprisoned or even considered hideous, sinful, blasphemous, any bad term you can find in the game really. The idea would be to rush the Corvian Scythe (this weapon is never leaving me...) seeing the obvious connection with the Painted World and Priscilla herself, but am really not sure what type of infusion to put on the scythe itself (Raw+Frozen Weapon could be an idea, Bleed later on for proper Lifehunt references). Another idea is Sharp infusion+Carthus Rouge until I get Friede's Scythe.
She would most likely be a Dex main (40) with 30 Intelligence for Snap Freeze/Frozen Weapon/Lifehunt Scythe (if faith is enough). DLC Rush would be a (difficult) must here.

Ember/Aethel/Ashen Planned: another planned character, this time would be a pure DEX (as I think there won't be major advantages in doing Dex 40 Chaos 30/30). This would be another rusher like Luna, but going further to get the Chaos Blade. A disgraced Chaos Witch/Sister that has only an inner flame, and cannot use spells properly. She is the possessor of the Chaos Blade, and will cut everything down using her inner flame to show that the fire inside of her has never faded. Still undecided on hair color and how best to go for items, but it might be a fun (swearing filled) playthrough.
Solo first until Chaos Blade is obtained.

Possible Bonk (STR) character: no idea yet for a name or look, but it would essentially be a STR No think just Bonk run, trying to rush the great mace for Perseverance and damage. One more run might include STR+DEX (Quality), maybe another with DEX+FTH.

I would love to either hear your thoughts/suggestions and especially see your own characters and how you got to run them with similar challenges!

Finished the game again yesterday after so many years and now trying Mantera's Mod

Hello friends, I have reinstalled LoMSE on my pc and come back to it from time to time, but since I played it as a kid more than 25+ years ago I never managed to win again. Until yesterday, when I ended up staying until 5am deciding not to choose Water faction (which I loved to play a lot as a kid) and going back to Life.

Tried Mage/Enchantress first, then Rogue, and (re)discovered how good the elven archers are. Ended up doing a mix of manual battles and some autocalculate in Vanilla game, conquering water away from marauders, having a feud with Fire, starting to explore the map around turn 100 to find Balkoth, and at turn 102 he comes out of a building close to the Chaos territory, with very few troops along (another autocalculate ordeal?), and that's when I eradicate him.

It was so satisfying to see the winning animation again. For some reason, as an adult, it's much more difficult and I had less patience to find exploits and explore, while as a kid I used to try all factions and enjoying their difference. I remember loving how elusive I was with Air, or the strength of the Warriors of Air and Fire, the tanking capabilities of Order, and so on.

Now after finishing Vanilla I thought "why not try the mod then" and it feels like it adds a lot of quality of life improvements, new portraits to the races where I want them (this is how I was imagining the faces of Water heroines), and makes me want to try again the different races even though I know that it will not be easy to use vanilla exploits like I used to as a kid (which I don't remember clearly anyway haha). I tried to survive with Water warrior and it's much more challenging, albeit also rewarding. I wonder if when I was a kid I was ultra-micro-managing the defend, attack and berserk buttons.

I would like to ask if you'd have any story and strategy to share with each of the different elements to worship, because I'd really love to try both my own strategies and hear how you tackled your own favorite or interesting faith playthrough. Water would be the first I'm interested into, but I'd really love to hear all sort of strategies and gameplays you're doing or have done with each faith and each hero archetype.

Also would like to ask, there are supposedly special heroes to find. The one I found is the most common, typing the name "Witch" (without quotations) when choosing Chaos Mage. Is there a list of all the obtainable heroes and heroines and what faith and archetype to choose to unlock them in the mod? I heard you can unlock Sir Lancelot with Order or Life but neither worked.

Last but not least, much kudos and love to AbelHawk for making the Wordpress site and showing all portraits and units, I've always been interested in seeing the different ones you can get. I wish there was a way to choose your own portrait when making a custom hero or by default!
